+editRe: interesting post...just wondering
I'll get back to you with a more complete answer as soon as I can (or to answer any questions you may have)....but that may be a few days.
I've been cleansing & 'living right' for years, as well; I'm very 'comfortably in-tune' with my body and it's reactions. But, I got 'swept up' in all the
Iodine enthusiasm (and the words of all the allopathic mds, which did NOT include reading & research of all the various possible adverse effects, only the good results)...and hence I was a bit 'thrown off' my game and intuition.
I took
Lugol's for several months in varying dosages (from 0-100 mg daily)...and had late periods/lack of menses throughout those months. The symptoms of bromide/fluoride/metal detox were symptoms I could live with (and easily recognized)...this was something else entirely (not an allergy either). In retropsect (having now researched and gained knowledge about adrenal/thyroid/hpa axix abnormalities & symptoms), many of the symptoms that I'd chalked up to simple detox, were symptoms of detox combined with symptoms of too much
Iodine and a major loss of/rebalancing of estrogen. It had a LOT to do with the high levels of poisons releasing into my bloodstream playing havoc with my kidneys & adrenal glands, and my body adjusting to the loss/readjusment of estrogen balance (which is VERY common when supplementing iodine, but not very much spoken of). I'd obviously reached what the
Iodine MD's refer to as 'sufficiency' earlier than I'd thought...and my body was needing to throw off 100% of the iodine that was being ingested, but with the kidney/adrenal overload (which also affected the thyroid/HPA axis) & hormonal disruptions, I was thrown into a state of extreme adrenal fatigue/exhaustion (which I assume was complicated by my kidneys probably not being able to remove the excess iodine)...which manifested itself very clearly with pupils unreactive to light, the typical 'wired but tired' state, sleep became erratic and very 'unsound', and I lost 2/3 of my hair (amongst a myriad of other, typical symptoms of adrenal distress). The hair loss was the initial symptom, but I chalked that up to the iodine detoxing the fluoride (hence removing phytoestrogens from my system). And since a lack of estrogen/hormone imbalance is definitely associated with hair loss (and something I'd experienced before...both with way too early menopause AND even further back with a Depo-Provera injection) -- I just kept dosing and assuming this was all part of the 'iodine experience'.
By stopping the iodine and focusing almost entirely upon my adrenals, I've virtually removed all of the symptoms...but I'm still HIGHLY reactive to
Lugol's and/or detoxified Iodine. One drop, and that bizzarro type of 'highly wired exhaustion anxiedty' can be felt within a half an hour.
I'd love to elaborate further, but I'm VERY late/behind in my work, and I'll have to get back to you as soon as I can.
Blessings,
Unyquity
