interesting post...just wondering
about this sentence:
'Not only did I have a negative experience with
Iodine (that could have EASILY been prevented if I'd known the signs to look for...signs that I erroneously chalked up to detox'
and this:
'Personally? I hope to be able to start supplementing again soon. At this point, one drop of
Lugol's or detoxified still causes an immediate negative reaction within 20 minutes (which lasts for approximately a day and a half), so I simply can't.'
If it wasn't detox, then what was it? Do you think you are allergic to the
Iodine itself? And you say the negative experience could easily be prevented, and that you want to continue supplementing soon, but that you simply can't because of the duration of your negative reaction. Could you be more clear because the sentences seem to contradict each other.
I understand the negative experience quite well. I noticed the
Iodine feeling within 10 minutes of taking just 3mg...I would divide a pill into four pieces. It would make me VERY alert like too much coffee...I couldn't sleep at night, headache, the poops etc...and it would last the same amt of time as your reaction. It got a little better after just taking it now and again, so I tried 3mg for 6 days since I could now sleep, and then tried 6mg and had the worst detox of anything I have tried so far...and I have been detoxing for a few years now. I stayed away for a while and tried the 3mg which didn't have any effect anymore,so I said 'what the hell' and did 50mg since I was just laid off work. I got a cold at the same time as I took it. I was wondering if it was a detox reaction...but my roommate got the same cold so it was just a coincidence. It is only 2 weeks or so ago since I did that and I am now taking 25mg a day which I thought would take 5 months or more to get up to. And as soon as I am over this crummy pms, I'll take 50mg and stick with that for a couple of months. Will also get the thyroid test since my doctor wants me to.
I am just saying all this, since maybe you are wrong about it not being detox. And that maybe taking the higher dose is the key since it was for me. Don't get me wrong. I have tried higher doses with other detox methods and have not had the same results...I had to back off and stay at lower doses. I am just wondering if with iodine it is different.
