My point has always been that there are three different species of human and each one has its own point of view. The socialist (me) or democrat (not politicians) does indeed have a utopian outlook that is very communal. I would view society like a tribe of 50 people who live in a big hut and share everything. Such a system does work for tribes. Some go out and hunt the bison and they bring back the meat and share it with everyone. Others do different jobs,
I am saying this system does work and is the original way all humans lived until the last 10,000 years. I am not saying everyone in the tribe is necessarily prefering this system. There are some who would prefer to head over to the next tribe, attack them and make them slaves(republicans). There are others who would prefer to be left alone(independents, swing voters).
Back then they didnt have democracy. NOw we do so people flock to their own kind of political party. Thus we have this political war between the species.
The fact that you say:"The socialist mindset is just inconceivable to me." proves my point, to me anyway. The fact that people think america is not a socialist country just bogles my mind. Anytime the government does something for you that is socialism. The US army, navy, marines, airforce are all socialist organizations which we collectively pay taxes for the purpose of defending our country. Our government runs things from water supply, food inspection, air quality, business regulation and countless, possibly thousands of other things so how can anyone say, Texas is not a socialist state?
This disconnect between what is right in front of us and what we believe is what I am talking about.
Unless people can recognized their differences and come up with a solution by which we can all aim for the same goal we are doomed to an endless war between the Republicans,Libertarians and Socialists.
And so far no one here has shown me how that can happen. I have the right to enforce my views on you if I get a majority in a democracy. Thats how it works.
Well I have learned a new word:Libertarian. The libertarian,(Ron Paul) seems to be neither democrat or republican but the swing voter, the independent who is really only interested in themselves. Libertarians tend to be interested in personal freedoms which I agree with. They are generally not war mongers like the republicans so I agree with that. But their anti socialist view is extreme and as already been tried and failed everywhere over and over again. IMO
I predict it will be business as usual in the next ten years, with the neocons destroying the middleclass, subverting our freedoms, and terrorizing the world. Hillary will play into their hands by opening the southern border and giving amnesty to 20 million illegals. Ron Paul would play into their hands by wanting to eliminate all social programs. Bush is their man and another republican will just continue their ruin of this world. The neocon shadow government is running the show and we are just puppets.
