Um, a key phrase is in your law quote is "[S]uch parts of the common law of England, and of the statute law of England and Great Britain, and of the acts of the legislature of the colony of New York, _as together did form the law of the said colony on the 19th day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy-five..._"
No indication there that an ancient part of British law made it into the New York colony's laws at all.
An attempt in Britain to supersede British/European Union regulations based on this piece of history would be hilariously doomed to failure as well.
But hey, this stuff is at least entertaining, sort of like when that group in Texas decided to stop paying taxes because of their belief that Texas was an independent nation. :)
