Long answer
Herbs are very unpredictable. It is very difficult to get the dosage right and match them to a specific condition. Sometimes they are very good, sometimes detrimental but mostly don't do much at all. Dandelion and burdock are two traditional herbs that increase bile flow. Yellow dock appears to be mild laxative. Eating apples fruit and vegetables do the same thing and a good diet is essential to health. The best medically proved liver herb to aid detoxification and repair damage to the liver is Milk Thistle, which can be taken after the flushing programme is complete.
The liverflush is a therapy to clean the liver and biliary system and establish a cycle of clean bile. The bile is made in the liver, is used to digest food and then is re-adsorbed in the intestines. It is a carrier for many minerals but also drugs they are transported through the intestinal wall with the bile at a molecular level. The liver then re-uses the bile which can still have drug and minerals attached. When you flush out debris from the liver this cocktail can inadvertently provide a mineral or drug overdose. If you've been taking recreational drugs in the past these can give you another high and a low. Taking detoxification herbs can accelerate this process and overload the body making physical and mental symptom much worse. Consequently it is recommended not to take detoxification herbs and flush at the same time. Although I don't think dandelion, burdock and yellow dock are going to have much of an effect but take them with food if you continue with them.
These are not rules just guidelines. Many people do both and don't have any problem but some of us have experienced swings in moods and symptoms.
The purpose of the flush is to help clean physical debris from the biliary system and expel it before it can be re-absorbed in the intestine. This makes the liver produce fresh bile, but this bile still isn't clean because it has been made in the liver which still has some degree of toxicity. The good thing is that the liver will start to detoxify itself at the microscopic level. This can take a long time, a year or eighteen months. This is because the liver is now able to clear out toxins and excess minerals that have been dumped in other parts of the body. To clean the liver thoroughly a number of flushes are carried out every 2 to 4 weeks until the watery diarrhoea is clear or nearly clear of stones. Then some months after that the liver will finish its own detoxification process.
This takes time in which it is important to focus clearly on flushing and making some lifestyle changes. At the completion of the cleaning programme you will have a cleaner body to help you fight your chronic health problem.
Be mentally prepared because although it can cure you, it may only provide a small health improvement. Your skin problems might be cause by things not connected to the liver. However, you will have learnt a great deal and you will be in control of your own cure.
Living with long term health conditions is very difficult but it doesn't stop you having an enjoyable life surrounded by people that love and care for you. When things start to go wrong in relationships, family or work there is tendency to blame our health condition. But perfectly well people have these sort of problems as well. Not every thing that happens around us is due to our health they a "normal" ups and downs in life. We need to work hard in getting our minds straight.
I had a in-law who was a very beautiful lady with a lovely daughter a good enjoyable job. She became depressed and the Doctor gave her anti-depressants which made her blow up like a balloon. She no longer liked herself and committed suicide on her 40th birthday. If she had just been depressed then she may still be with us today.
