Where the survey asked how many days we did a water fast, I answered over 40 days. It asked for such people to share their stories, but it didn't provide any space to do so. So I thought I'd mention mine here. It was 1981 and I was 32. I tried
Water Fasts before for health and spiritual reasons, but they were hard to do and didn't seem worthwhile. I met a chiropractor at that time and shared my opinion. He said he was going on a fast and, since I felt he was knowledgeable, I thought I'd take the opportunity to try a fast with him. He started a week before I did and stayed on it a few days or a week after I ended mine.
I did it for 56 days. The first 5 days I had only water. The rest of the time I had 1 part canned pineapple juice with about 4 parts water, except during the 5th or 6th week we took herbs and water only. About that time I also noticed a bluish stain in the sink and I suggested that it must be due to chlorine in the water. I knew we were supposed to be using pure water. So we went and bought distilled water at the store for the rest of the fast.
We laid around most of the time during the fast, but did some walking each day. The doctor had an unconventional physics book, which I read during the fast. My mental abilities seemed to improve, as I seemed to understand many of the concepts in the book pretty well.
After a month or more I noticed that I looked a bit odd. My weight was initially close to 150#, but at the end it was down to 103#. I broke my fast with fruit and shortly returned home from North Carolina to Illinois via hitchhiking. I got a ride with a couple of young guys who had the radio on real loud and seemed a bit reckless. When they stopped for gas in the early morning, I told them I was going to eat breakfast. So they went on without me, which is what I preferred. I intended to stick with raw food diet, but the cafe only had basically cooked food. And, besides, I was craving carbs, so I ordered hashbrowns.
I had tried to stay on a raw food diet several times before without success. It wasn't until over a year later in late 82 that I finally started a raw food diet that I could stick with.
But back to my trip. When I got home, my family thought I was starving to death, because I looked gaunt. I had a similar experience over a year earlier when I was on raw food for a few months and had lost a lot of weight.
In 82 what helped me adjust to a permanent raw food diet was bananas blended with a small amount of water. I've not had 100% raw diet, but over 90% anyway. In 1996 I started eating eggs,
Sea Salt , spirulina, yogurt etc on Dr. Huggins' advice for recovering from mercury fillings. In 2002 I added salmon to my diet and later poultry. And I started having my eggs raw and substituted chlorella for spirulina for a few years.
I apparently had a protein shortage in the early 90s before my fillings were removed in the proper order. I had chronic fatigue and other symptoms shortly before my fillings were replaced.
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement cured my tooth infections in 2007. Vinegar cured a recurrence of chronic fatigue in 2008. I'm trying baking soda to cure my headaches now. Mine occur in the back of the neck. That is said to indicate an acid condition. Headaches behind the eyes or temples are said to indicate an alkaline condition, for which vinegar is recommended.
