I have been playing with designing a house with a rock floor, a simple approx. 20' x 40' structure which can be made to be open to the air whenever desired (Kind of like a hard-sided Yurt, I guess :-)), for the past couple of weeks.

I started with a rectangle simply because I wanted to be able to switch to timber/lumber or whatever building material might be the most expedient for wherever the location of the dwelling might be (I would rather use local materials), without totally blowing away my developed design.. Hehe, once it's developed, that is..
IOW I might go to radii instead of angles if I use the CalEarth type concept. It might still be a rectangle with radii, or if I determine that I can totally commit to cob or Calearth-type building, I may move to rounder shape, or more serpentine walls, as long as I can fit for the window space I want. I like homes which are able to be very open to the air and sunshine/sky, but which can be "battened down" in case of Hurricane (FL), Tornado (Tornado belt), Earthquake (CA), high winds (If that is part of the terrain), see what I mean?
This is a creative exercise, and I am loving it. At the same time, I plan to eventually arrive at a buildable structure which is likely to be quite unconventional :-), which is fine by me. I particularly like the idea of having a roll-back roof which can be opened to the sky in at least part of the structure :-). If I can't do that for some reason, then the place will be loaded with deck prisms and light pipes :-).
Well, there ya go :-). That's it so far :-). If you think I'm nuts, please do not share that part of your opinion with me :-).
Good Health to All of Us,
Ladylove :-)
