Answer:
Most people diagnosed with Gallstones (99%) can do liver cleanse, and not feel any pain.
BUT, few people may experience pain.
What is the most common cause of pain?
Pain may be caused by an inflamed gallbladder, gallbladder full of stones.
Pain may be caused by the stone that is too big to exit gallbladder (stone stuck in cystic duct)(In this case, another cleanse may cause more pain.)
Pain may be caused by the stone that stuck in common bile duct.
(In this case, another cleanse would cure problem.)
Pain may be caused by numerous stones inside gallbladder, or gallbladder that is too weak to push numerous stones out.
(In this case, another cleanse may cause more pain.)
Pain may be caused by numerous stones inside liver - liver is to congested to let stones pass out.
(In this case, another cleanse may push stones out)
What to do to relieve pain ?

I did my first flush last week. The morning of my flush after the
Epsom Salt at 6:00am I had a attack, then after the next Epsom Salt
another mild attack. I passed about 200 pea and rice size stones
(Praise the Lord). That evening when I ate chicken soup(2 bowls) it
through me into a massive attack (threw up) my worst yet, I was in
the ER after the pain wouldn't go away after 4 hours. I think some
of the stones are to big and are getting stuck. Is their something I
could take to break them down before I do the flush again. I am a
breastfeeding mom so that may limit what I can take.

I did The Clark Flush , followed it to the letter. I don't know what
the problem really was. The week before I trying a different flush,
3 days only apple juice then olive oil and lemon juice. I had a bad
attack the day after that one to. I didn't pass any stone, that I
could tell. I'm a bit scared to try again. I could use all the
advise I could get. I mentioned the flush to Doctor, he looked at me
like I was crazy and said " they were probably not gall stones", HA!

I'm sorry it was taken so long to reply to your message. I was
hospitalized twice last week with gallbladder attacks and
unfortunately had it removed on Thursday. I will answer your
question in a hope it will help someone else.
The first attack lasted about 45 minutes and was on a scale of 1-10,
a 8. the second and third were milder 4 and the last after the
homemade chicken soup was a 7 that just would not stop, I believe it
lasted 7 hours. The later attack came after eating eggs which had
not been a trigger food for me before. The attack lasted 40 minutes
it was a 7, after recovering for 20 minute I drank 3 ounces of juice
only to get another attack. That one lasted 7 hours before I went to
the hospital and then 6 more after that.
I'm a 32 year old female
5 children our youngest being 9 months old
I'm half Swiss and half Spanish
5'2'' and 40 pounds over weight
My diet is very bad lots of fatty deserts
no glasses
One German Shepard.
Did not do the parasites cleanse yet.
I think I trying to much to fast without making enough dietary
changes did me in. The frequent attacks caused inflammation ( stones
stuck)and infection which led to more attacks. I do hope some one
can learn from my mistakes. If you have good information on what I
do now I would love the information. I know I traded one problem for

Trying to answer some questions. This is Heidi. My first flush I did was the
only apple juice for 3 days and then 3 ounces of lemon and 3 ounces of olive
oil. Before I did this flush I had only had 2 mild attacks, (only when I ate 2
or 3 really fatty meals in a row with little water). It was after the first
flush when my problems really started. I did not get stones out with the first
flush. The morning after the first flush when I ate for the first time I had
bad attack lasting 3-4 hours. It was bad but I could feel it as it moved down
my back and chest until it passed. I learned after that attack if I breathed
deep and relaxed it would go away faster, so ever attack after that one I would
lay in bed and relax until it was over. I don't believe fear was a part of it.
The two attacks that landed me in the hospital were after the 2nd flush (Clark
flush) I got rid of 200 small stones, but I was more susceptible to attacks for
some reason. The attacks that put me in the hospital were different, the pain
was not excruciating but, it just would not go away. I am a healthy person with
no other health problems. I wish I would not have had my gallbladder out, I
would have tried to flush more. I traded one problem for another, I would
recommend people to try the flushes and don't give up.

I can only answer this from personal experience...but then that is often far
closer the truth than scientific reasoning...:)
I did my 3rd flush using large quantities of Japps Health salts which
certainly cleared my bowels...but I had negative results regarding stones
(not a stone in sight...which kind of negates the olive oil soap theory!)
and was in terrific pain for a week afterwards. I decided to do another
flush a week later (still in pain) and did it with the Epsoms as I had
before. Successful results and the pain vanished. Now, I decided that I had
gotten a stone stuck in the Japps flush and that was why I was in constant
pain afterwards...believe me, I felt really bad.
Conclusion: I will never flush without my Epsoms again! No way do I want THAT pain again.
But, I also have to add that we are all different and I have no doubt that
just as some people have larger pores than others, so some have wider bile
ducts than others...in which case, there may be no need to dilate them
further. Y'know, scientists and pharmacists come up with all these amazing
drugs to cure this and that, but we can't ALL take the same drugs...they
have different effects on different people. My son can't take penicillin -
it would kill him - but I can. Same thing for the flush...it's a question of
finding out what works best for you. Some people have no need for the
Epsoms...I do.

its not so ok. i just had a gallstone flush last satruday, march 10
and everything was ok until i woke up at 4am and im having an
attack. i felt very awful. are you suppose to have an attack while

i have to take pain relievers so the pain would go away.
the flush was successful. i had passed out stones but not too many.
maybe around 300 stones and im afraid to repeat it again as i might

the Epsom Salt was awful. can anyone sugegst an alternative for that?
the olive oil and grapefruit juice was ok. easier to swallow than
the epsom salt with water.
im still not ok while making this email. i feel weak from the flush
i have done sunday evening.

Hi guys,
Well...what a weekend I had! Did my first ever Liver Flush on Friday
night using Dr Clark's recipe but upped the oil to 3/4 cup and equal
amounts of grapefruit juice as well as having 5 TBSspoons of Epsom
salts. (had previous dealings with Epsom Salts and knew I'de need
a 'boost' to help things move along!)
Was fine all night and decided to lie first on my back for the 20
minutes and then on my left for about 10 minutes, on my right for
another 10 minutes and then fell asleep on my back.
By 4am I started passing 'stones' and sludge and was all pretty
painfree. The stones were whole when they came out but as soon as I
tried to pick them up they easily 'dissolved' into 'squidge' as I
examined them. I've been taking Gold Coin Grass and Coptis for the
past 3 weeks as part of my juicing routine and feel this was
responsible.
The stones were green inside and therefore presuming these were
cholesterol stones from the liver.
As I continued taking the Epsom Salts at the prescribed times, I kept
passing various sized 'stones' and later on loads of sludge and sand-
like grit.FANTASTIC!!!
But...by 10.30am I was in absolute agony. I have never had an attack
this painful in my life. I have a calcified stone of 17mm in my
gallbladder and knew full well this was the culprit to the pain. I
was throwing up and writhing around for 5 hours and if a surgoen was
in my bedroom I would have begged him through tear-stained eyes to
cut me open to end the pain.If it wasn't for my boyfriend being there
and clearing up after me (vomitting water, bile, grapefuit and oil),
helping me between bedroom and bathroom I really dont know what I'de
have done.
The last one I had which even came close to this was on holiday in
Greece last year after eating and drinking everything and anything
and ended up with an attack. This weekend's one by far beat that!
By 3.30pm I woke up after getting an exhausted hours sleep and the
pain had subsided slightly. I just sat on my bed and wept. I am
absolutely gutted that it caused this attack as although I
desperately want to continue flushing to get rid of all the other
stuff in my liver (I was sooooo pleased to see what I was passing!)
and I knew it could be months/years before passing the 'biggie', but
I cannot do another cleanse and risk undergoing that again.
Bt 9 that night, the attack came back (although not with the same
vengeance) and lasted until 7.30am the next morning. Ended up in the
bath from 3 to 5am to try and ease the pain a little.
Has anyone who has a calicified stone in their GBs ever had an attack
brought on by doing the flush?
What on earth am I going to do now????
Please, any suggestions I'de greatly appreciate. I'm off work for 2
weeks due to having a ganglion operation and therefore will not be
able to read any of your postings after tues afternoon. (crap timing
as usual).
With much anticipation, still sore and deeply gutted!

I had one bad experience, I did 3 flushes and the last one I got a horrible
gallbladder attack and it was horrible because I started vomiting and it was
just really gross., but my first 2 were ok. I would suggest putting the
olive oil and juice in a blender first, it mixes better than just stirring,
I also have heard of a flush using cola, and I heard this one actually works
better, and I also heard that using turkey rhubarb capsules helps soften the
stones before flushing. Good luck! (I ended up getting my gallbladder
removed after all, the flushes just werent working for me)

Yes you can suffer gallstone attack while doing the cleanse.
However, even if you decide tohave the surgery, your body will go on producing stones and you'll end up having to do the cleanse eventually anyway because they will collect in your liver. I regret having my gallbladder out. If I had known then what I know now I never would have done it. The best thing to do is eat a clean diet without saturated fats and the other junk that causes high cholesterol. Use fresh lemon juice and olive oil frequently as a salad dressing.

Hello.
One thing I have found to relieve pain from any gallbladder attack is this: you can massage the stones out of the bile ducts.
To do this you lie one your back and put some oil on your abdomen. First massage the left side pushing from the bottom of the
ribcage out toward the belly button.(this clears the small intestine) Do this all along the rib cage, starting at the bottom of the sternum, or the solar plexus area.
Next do the middle (from sternum to the belly button), then the other side. You will need to massage much more on the right side where the gallbladder is. This can painful, but just do as much as you can tolerate. Keep at it and use your hand as a wedge to push the stones out. Eventually you
will hear a gurgling or feel a little pop and the stone will have moved. You will know when the stone has moved when you can apply a
lot of pressure to the right side and there is a big improvment in the pain level, or no pain at all.
The next thing to do is to put some moist heat on it and rest. Don't eat anything for several hours, then start easy, with broth or juice and see how it goes. It works better if you can get someone else to do the massage because they will be able to go deaper into the abdomen, but make sure you get them to cut their fingernails or it can be pretty painful!
It's important to try to start from as far under the rib cage as possible. I do this massage all the time and it works great. Don't give up, sometimes this can take awhile and be pretty
uncomfortable.
The other thing you can do during any gallbladder attack is to make yourself throw up. Keep drinking water and throwing up untill
all the food gets flushed out. This handles the pain instantly, but it's pretty unpleasant. Of course, anyone who has been lying in bed
screaming with an attack will know that even this unpleasantness is worth it if the pain goes away. My back sometimes will cramp
up after throwing up, and also my stomach, but moist heat and a friendly massage handles this quickly.
One last word of advice. There are some gallbladder herbs that one can get in Chinatown that flush the stones out. I've never had
any problems with these.

I dont much like western medicine anyway. I have started the flush with olive oil and lemons. This is a reply to # 331,994I would suggest just going to China Town and finding a herbalist. I did that and got some chinese stuffs to take before I did very many gall bladder flushes. I also had accupuncture for gall stones. The Chinese Herbalists are very knowledgeable with health and healing things. I found that my wonderful Chinese Lady Doctor does not want to tell what is in the things that she prescribes, which is fine with me.....as long as it works !! I followed the herbs with liver flushes.

This is a reply to # 61,987I have never been diagnosed with Gallstones officially. Nothing has shown up on x-rays. I had a dull ache in my upper right abdoment 2 years ago, and it eventually went away. It came back about 3 months ago, and is now accompanied by pain in the right shoulder blade. I've never really had what I consider an "attack." Just an ache that is sometimes more noticeable, and sometimes less noticeable. Anyhow, I did my first flush two nights ago, and passed probably 150 or so gravel sized green stones. I realize that I will need to continue flushing every few weeks to get totally cleaned out. But I really thought that this first flush would relieve some of the pressure. Instead, I'm having increased pain in my abdomen. I haven't even been eating any fat yet. Any ideas on why I might be having increased pain? Could this be related to anything other than the gallbladder? (I'll be totally honest--I'm paranoid about liver cancer!) Any insight will be appreciated!

Any other symptoms?
What foods can you tolerate?
Profession?
Are you using any medications?
Can you walk?
Have you ever had any surgery?
Have you tried coffee enema?
Have you tried castor oil packs?
Have you tried to take 1 teasp of magnesium sulfate daily?
Most problems (symptoms) that appear after liver cleanse, can be solved with the next cleanse, repeated the next day, or few days later.
Did you try another cleanse?

Maybe this information will help: I am 30 years old. I'm about 5 ft. 9, 160 lbs. I have had four children in the last 6 1/2 years. I am a caucasian female. I don't know my blood type off hand. I'm not sure what p-pils are--do you mean birth control? If so, I took them for a few months right after I got married, but not since then. I believe my toes are healthy. Nothing looks abnormal. My small toenail on my right foot is cracked vertically, I'm assuming because I have really wide feet and that toe bears the burden in my shoes. My left big toe has a couple of horizontal ridges on it. As far as other symptoms go, I have the stereotypical pain in my right shoulder blade. I can't really figure out which foods make my pain worse yet. It usually seems to be worse at night. And it's not usually true pain, just a noticeable tightness or pressure--slight discomfort. Once, when I tried a primitive flush with just a little olive oil and lemon juice (no other preparations at all), I had noticeably increased discomfort. You asked about my profession. I'm a stay at home mom. Yes, I can walk just fine. I have never had any surgery. I have not tried a coffee enema. What exactly should I do? What would be the benefit? (I'm new at all this!) I'm just wondering if instead of a few big stones that would show up on sonogram, maybe I have tons of little ones that are packed in there, not causing any big attacks, but causing this fairly constant pressure. I'm hoping this is the case. I'm worried about what the other possibilities could be if it's not gallstones. Should I go back to the doctor to have any tests repeated?

Yes, this is an important information.
It means that you need magnesium sufate ( Epsom Salts ).
I believe that Epsom Salts was the reason for you not to have any discomfort the night you did cleanse. (I assume you have been using Epsom Salts in your cleanse? )
One of the reason for increased discomfort after the first cleanse can be a huge stone inside your gallbladder.
When big stone inside gallbladder get pushed out, it may be lodged inside cystic duct (narrow throat-like duct that connects gallbladder with common (main) bile duct).
If that stone blocks the gallbladder totally, that may cause pain.
In case of this scenario, it may take several cleanses, sometimes even 15 or 20 before gallbladder and liver becomes healthy enough (healthy bile ducts are fexible bile ducts) to push that big stone out. If you have seen immage gallery on this web site, you can see one stone that is 4.5 cm long. Man who passed that stone, got it out on his 18th cleanse.
Another possible cause of pain may be one or several large stones inside liver (inside bile ducts inside liver) that got moved, but there was not enough bile to move them out totally.
In case of this scenario, it may happen that those stones move out on the 3rd or 6th cleanse.

Yes, that means that stones have been moving, but there was not enough power to push them out totally.
It is rarely that big stones are pushed out already on the first cleanse.

They just told me it was "one of those things" and it seemed to go away when I was pregnant with my 4th. It just reappeared about 2-3 months ago, this time with the shoulder blade pain. I'm just wondering if instead of a few big stones that would show up on sonogram, maybe I have tons of little ones that are packed in there, not causing any big attacks, but causing this fairly constant pressure.

Yes, that is also possible, but you have to know that a sonogram is not always able to find stones.

In most people, Gallstones are the worst that can happened.
If you are affraid of tumors, your chances are poor, considering all pregnancies.
Women pregant many times have small chances of developing tumors.

I have only done two flushes. My Gallstones never showed up on ultrasound, but I've had gallbladder/liver pain nonetheless. I cleaned out 150 stones the first time, and felt significantly increased discomfort for the next 3 days. Then I improved quite a bit. It seems like I feel my best right before the cleanse. (Probably because I'm eating no fat!) I just did my second cleanse last week, and only got out about 40 stones (gravel sized) I never really have "attacks" where there's a noticeable start and finish to my discomfort. It's just an awareness of my gallbladder or liver, and a tight, pinching feeling under my ribs. Anyhow, after my second flush, I felt about the same for a couple of days. Not worse, and not better. But now I have had a couple more days of a flare-up. I can't help but think that I'm helping my health by doing these cleanses. I would just like to have a day or two with absolutely no sensation in my upper right abdomen. Since it always seems to be there in some degree or another, I sometimes wonder if stones are the real problem, or if something else is going on.

This is a reply to # 331,539I just finished my 3rd flush a couple of days ago, and had excellent results. I passed about 140 stones, and a few of them were the biggest yet. One was about 1 inch wide, and several were marble sized. The rest were black eyed pea size or smaller. I would expect that after my flush, I would feel quite a bit better for an extended period of time. But I usually feel about the same as I did before the flush. I never have had what I would consider a gallbladder attack. I've had a few times when my upper right abdomen feels more uncomfortable than usual, but other than that, it's just a tight pulling feeling that's fairly constant. For those of you who have had genuine attacks, it seems like its the attack that gets most of the attention. What about the times in between the attacks? Are you completely pain free? Do you still have an "unwell" sensation in your upper right quadrant? Are you completely fine until the next attack? If you do feel tightness or discomfort between times, is it pretty constant? I seem to have certain positions that make it more noticeable. If I stretch certain ways, or take a really deep breath and pull my stomach muscles in, it's more noticeable. I can't really push on it and feel anything. It's often related to certain movements or sleeping positions. I have another message on here somewhere giving all my vital statistics and answering a ton of questions, which Agnes or Lilian asked me another time. (Caucasian female, 30 years old, 4 children, had same pain 2 years ago for several months, nothing showed up on ultrasound or CT scan, liver function was good, no hepatitis, pain eventually went away, came back 3-4 months ago, etc. . .. no jauncice, haven't had a recent ultrasound.) It seems to me that since I've never had a true, grueling attack, that if my gallbladder was just packed with little stones, these flushes would cause the tightness to just ease up a little bit. But it hasn't seemed to get any better overall. I am the most symptom free the night of the flush after taking Epsom Salts , but the next day after I pass the stones, the discomfort gradually comes back each time. Again, nothing gut-wrenching. Just a steady discomfort. I don't really believe that each time I'm getting a stray stone stuck in the ducts that just didn't quite make it out. It would seem highly coincidental for that to happen 3 times. I'm going to keep flushing until I get them all out, but I guess I'm worried that I'll get them all out and I'll still have the discomfort after all this work. Could my liver/gallbladder be inflammed or swollen, and that's what's causing the problem? Perhaps its something other than stones. Help please!

It's been a couple of weeks since I visited this formum, and low and behold, I came across this message. The reason it's been a couple of weeks is that I am feeling GREAT for the first time in a long time. I did my first four flushes one week apart. I was having a lot of anxiety about the constant discomfort on my right side. Like yourself, it was almost always there. Or if I couldn't feel it, all I needed to do was stretch my body this way or that, or lay down in a certain position, and there it was again. It didn't seem to correspond with fatty foods, and I never had any real attacks.
The closest I ever came to an attack was the night of my 3rd flush. I was sitting on the couch before bed (after having taken my first 2 doses of Epsom Salts ) and I had an incredible cramping in my right side. It lasted for about 15 minutes or so, and it seemed better when I changed positions. Of course, I was thinking, "Oh great, something massive is going wrong with my body.
What have I done by starting these cleanses?
Am I doing them too close together?
Will I end up in the emergency room tonight?
Will I ever feel better?"
The next day, I passed my largest stones yet. One was about the size of a quarter, the rest were large marble sized. I felt much better the next day, although the swollen sensation was not completely gone. It was, however, much less noticeable, and continued to be that way.
(It took 3 cleanses to get to that point, but for others, perhaps it will take more.) After my 4th cleanse, I felt fantastic.
I finally waited two weeks between my 4th and 5th cleanse, because after the fourth, I felt so good, and was much more at ease.
I didn't do my first 4 so close together because I was in gut-wrenching pain or anything. I did it because I was concerned about my health, and I wanted to get to the end of all my stones so I could confirm or deny that stones were indeed the problem.
Like yourself, I was extremely suspicious that I didn't fit the description for someone who had gallstones. I was afraid that there was something seriously wrong. In my mind, the only way to be sure was to follow the cleansing to its conclusion and then decide at that point.
Honestly, I didn't believe that I would ever be free of that tightness and swelling. By the time I began my 4th flush, I was despairing. Of course, I'm not a doctor, and I can't tell you if you are in the same boat as me. But your story sounds exactly like mine. From one person who doesn't fit the classic sterotype of a gallbladder attack victim to another, be encouraged!
Perhaps relief is just a couple more flushes away! I started my fifth flush last night, and so far, I've only had a bunch of chaff, and a few of my tiniest stones yet.
Since my pain is gone, I'm thinking I may be at the end of my cleanses. Perhaps I'm almost completely clean. If so, I would be surprised, after hearing of these people who have gotten rid of thousands of stones. But each person is different!

I had my first flush a couple of days ago and considered it a success as i painlessly flushed about 120 stones, and a few pretty big ones. Then that night i began to feel a dull pain on my right side towards my back. It got, well, not worse, but more frequent today, and i was happy to find a lot of info on here from similar experiences. Yours gives me hope that i could be having a very similar experience to what you had, so i will continue cleansing. If you do see this, my question would be, how soon is too soon to do another cleanse? thanks again

I have done 2 flushes. the first i felt great. the second came with reflux and its symptoms and a dull but always there inflamational type pain in my upper right abdoman that some times goes through to my lower shoulder blade. not painful but I,m very aware of it (since starting the cleanses).thanks in part of Dr Clark advising me to "lay quietly and feel the stones coming out".. I was scared to continue with further cleanses out of fear and anxiety that something could be really wrong with me. But my instincts tell me to continue with the cleanses. Generally I,m pretty healthy but I just turned 40 and I,m trying to redeem my self of my old unhealthy sins (can & box food, sodas, bourbon, ie you get the idea).I have since changed my ways. My nutritionist said I could substitute powdered magnesium Citrate for the hanous tasting epsom salt. Has any one else tried that? Im doing a parasite cleanse, then a kidney cleanse, then I will look foreward to my 3rd cleanse .Wish me luck so I can look foreward to feeling superfantastic someday! Im so encouraged to know the dull achy pain is a normal part of the healing process and that every thing will be alright. sometimes my anxiety can get the best of me when I feel discomfort. This is a reply to # 331,539You might well have a stone that is threatening to lodge in the bile duct. If that happen you could trigger sometime much worse that a gallbladder sttack - it is pancreatitus. the blocked duct causes the pancreas to over produce the enzymes amylase and lipase. The overstimulated pancreas becomes inflammed and causes extreme pain and you will require hospitalization to make sure the fragile tissue of the pancreas does not get infected.

This is a reply to # 331,804This actually happened to my husband some years ago and he literally nearly died. Pancreatitis casued in this way is not the same as when it is casued through alcohol abuse where it become chronic, but you survive. Caused through gall stones, the condition is acute and has a high morbity rate. Do be careful.
