Oh yes, I should add a note to the post for candida people. :)
If you're in stage one (definite candida overgrowth) then it is best to have an entirely
Sugar free diet and just use stevia or licorice root as a sweetener (many teas have licorice as a natural sweetener). But when you get to stage two, meaning the candida is basically under control but now you have to deal with teh aftermath, some natural sugars are okay, about a tablespoon a day should be just fine. I used brown rice syrup and maple syrup with no problem when I was curing systemic candidiasis. (see candida notes on more info about stage 1 and stage 2.)
I absolutely adore Ayurvedic medicine. It's much more intuitive for me than Chinese, which I struggled with for many years with no real success. As soon as I read Ayurvedic Medicine by Dr. Vasant Lad, the doctor who is most responsible for brining it to this country, I was hooked. I soaked up the information and was able to immediately apply it to my benefit! All you have to understand are a few basic concepts of dosha and whether foods are heating or cooling to put it to use. Most of my Digestive Power notes are based on Ayurvedic wisdom. :)
The Kichadi recipe is from "Ayurvedic Cooking" which I highly recommend. :) Indian food is SOOOO good and easy to digest. :)
