In your question I hear your plea for hope, needing to know that there can be life after candida. Since I have been at that dreadful place myself, I do relate, and want to assure you that it IS possible to feel well again.The road for me was not easy, rather leangthy (several years), with numerous set backs. Once I realized that I hated life the way it was AND committing suicide was not an option, I knew the only other option was to do my darnest to get myself out of this mess. It requires a whole lot of determination, stick-to-it-ness, self-discipline coupled with a healthy dose of self-love, and willingness to try many different approaches. Today I can't honestly point to one particular approach and say IT made the difference, maybe they were all stepping stones on my path....
After deciding that regular doctors were "useless" for this particular condition (this was abt. 15 years ago, things may have changed a tiny little since then), I did a lot of reading on the subject, followed a rather strict candida diet, saw homeopathic doctors, naturopathic doctors and spent a small fortune on probiotics and herbal and homeopathic remedies. I became a vegetarian for a while,did yoga, meditation, visualizations, changed my career to eliminate some stresses. I did bowel cleanses, parasite cleanses, vegetable juice fasts, removed my amalgams, learned to avoid foods I was sensitive to. I did kidney cleanses and 20 liver flushes.
I am very happy to say I have not had any candida or leaky gut or IBS symptoms for several years now, nor any bloatings or gall bladder attacks ( had them frequently). My energy level is better than it has been for years, and my body is mostly pain free. I have been more relaxed with my diet for a long time, but try to keep it healthy, free of junk food, sugars, alcohol, etc.
If my path to a better health sounds like an ordeal, I would think that it may not take as long today, because there is more information available, more knowledgeable health care practitioners, and a larger range of products.

Johng and Steve, who have both posted about their experiences on this forum, are completely cured. There are plenty others who have done it.

I had candida in 1992. I struggled with it for a year or so. No one knew what it was then. Only one book existed and thank god I stumbled upon it. The Yeast Connection by Dr. Crook. In any event, no one was using the internet then and I had no one to help me no drs. nothing. After reading the book I went on the diet. It took 5-6 months to go away. I stayed on the diet for another 5-6 months out of fear mostly. I guess that is what drove it home. I was perfectly well for 8 years. As a matter of fact I had forgotten all about it til I started not feeling 8 years later after mega doses of an induistrial strength antibiotic. I did not take care of myself during the treatment, I did no preventative whatsoever. My own dumb fault, but it did not occur to me since not much was known when I first had it. Physically , in 1992, it was a big struggle. I was so exhausted I could barely hold my head up. I had a new job and I had to go to work everyday. It was aweful, torture almost. But when I got well my body felt light, energetic, healthy. I was mentally sharp as a tack and went on like that for some time until Antibiotics got a hold of me.


Well here I am again, and when you get it the second time...it is far worse . Symptoms are hoorific for me anyway. Again. after many months of diet I realized diet alone was not gonna do it this time. i had to launch a full out attack which I did. EaCH MONTH i AM TONS BETTER THAN THE MONTH BEFORE. I EXPECT TO BE FULLY WELL BY SPRING sorry about caps.

Just requires diligence and a plan ...a good plan. Listen to your body and respond. if you do not feel you are making progress then regroup and reassess and kep an open mind. Lots of times people are reluctant to try things , don't be. It is worth trying anything to see what will work for you.

I have personal experience with Candida. I had it for over 30 years before I was educated in how to get it under control. I ended up going to a Naturopath that gave me the best advice. She said that I need to go on the Candida Diet along with my husband. That way, I won't get it back. So, my husband & I went on the diet for 3 months along with taking the herbs from "Candistroy". This was over 10 years ago and I have been able to keep it under control with a modified diet which means that I no longer use foods that contain preservatives , additives, processed sugar, etc. I try to eat as close to nature as possible. We also ended up going to a colon therapist for colonics during the Candida diet.

A good book that I read was "The Yeast Connection" by Dr. William Crook. You might be able to find it at your local library.
