Gay Bashing for Jesus
A large number of people who dislike homosexuality and homosexuals find a variety of ways to use Jesus as support for their bigotry. This is interesting, considering the fact that Jesus is regularly portrayed as sitting down and having friendly relations with those who would be considered the dregs of society. How times have changed.
Laura Parcells writes for The Cavalier Daily:
Does the Bible say homosexuality is wrong? Yes, there are arguably a few allusions to this in the massive text. However, the Bible also says that women are inferior creatures and that slaves should not make haste to free themselves. What we all need to understand that the Bible is, like everything else, a historical document. Even the letters of the New Testament were written to specific regions regarding specific problems that were to be resolved in specific ways. The Bible has been used as a means of social control since its inception, and has always been subject to the self-preserving interpretations of the ruling class.
Why do we insist on depriving people of true equality on the basis of something they cannot control, and which should not be of concern to us at all? Why must we ruin people's lives by telling them that what they are is not OK? To maintain the status quo? To not have to reckon with what it means to truly let everyone (and not just heterosexual, rich, white men) be equal? ... What people do not understand is that the white, heterosexual, Christian capitalist norms we are taught every day are not "neutral," as people like to believe, but are themselves political! These status quo perceptions need to be challenged, all the more because they are perceived as being "non-political" and "natural." Instead however, Christianity -- which in truth preaches nothing more radical than love -- is being used to maintain and further reify these social constructions which leave so many behind.
Parcells makes some very interesting comments about how Christianity gets used to maintain social control over people. Certain modes of behavior are labeled "normal" and, thus, removed from normal political debate. Part of that process is to portray those norms as being part of a natural Christian system, set forth in the Bible and followed faithfully by generations of God-fearing Christians. In this manner, real dissent and challenge are largely eliminated from the community through a combination of religious, political, and peer pressure

MoreThis is a reply to # 271,192I have never heard of any other animal in the animal kingdom who have sex with the same gender. Male birds don't have sex with other male birds, female tigers don't have sex with other female tigers. That's b/c it is not normal, wholesome, good behavior. It's not natural that's why. The procreation of the species depends on the natural sexual intercourse between the opposite sexes.
Humans with all our intelligence do things b/c we can, even if it's wrong. We have free will, but we also can get corrupted by it, if we don't have moral standards and protocol.

As a Science bio major my study was the hymadrious baboon and they quite readily partook in sexual activities amongst other male baboons! The behavior is not as uncommon as you are made to believe! Don't use an example of one perverted dog to speak for the whole animal species, that's foolish, and it probably was a female dog he was humping anyway, did you check?

Homosexuality is found in countless species in the nature, it's not a form of perversion, it,s simply a different way to enjoy sexuality. It's perfectly ok that a woman or a man feels love or sexual attraction to another person of the same gender. It happens in HUNDREDS and probably thousands of species.

Note the last part about the brains. This would be another indication that homosexuals are born that way.

So? Even if it,s not for the same purpose, it's still sex, and sex between two of the same gender=homosexuality. Your statement leads nowhere, and therefore does not prove your point in any way.
Besides you ignored a lot of the other stuff that had nothing to do with the dominance of the alpha male. Female do it too, why did you ignore that?

This is the most bigoted ,judgemental egotistical, hurtful, spiteful expression of better then thou I have ever seen! Its no wonder Chistians commit suicide over these issues!
It's no wonder they hung withches and gays! With such hateful bigotry now being expressed as science, a Science that only bashes and points fingers , that does not one ounce of good is frightful. No, I'm not a bigot, I don't gay bash(btw you are a bigot against Christians, does that make it more right?), but I don't think it's right. I am not going to *out* a closet gay for his embarrasment, I don't support gay hate crimes. My way to persuade a gay to repent is to talk to him/her in private. I would also vote against gay marriage, as I think marriage is a sacred ceremony between a man and woman.

Christianity has a lot of different versions but I particularly like the one in which Jesus is gay, bisexual and his gay lover judas iscariot who scorned betrays Jesus! Seems Judas had no particular purpose as a disciple and it was never discussed why Jesus called on him ,except his love for Jesus and his for him!
