I had wisdom tooth surgery in 2013 and only #1 and #32 were extracted (the others on the left side didn't exist). Shortly after I went to the hospital with a violent vomiting episode, where I couldn't stop throwing up until I was given medication and fluids. Weeks later I felt a bad infection at the site in my jaw which the surgeon cleaned and gave me Antibiotics for. I had no more pain or signs of infection since then but the hospital visits continued through the years. As the vomiting episodes continued, in 2014 I was diagnosed with a rare form of migraine called cyclic vomiting syndrome. It has been absolute horror to cope with.
Only now in 2016 did I have some recent horrendous episodes, enough to push me to research what's really going on beyond what the doctors have been capable of.. The onsets of my syndrome/emergency room visits have been random and unpredictable, and mainly seem to happen when my immune system is very low.. This year I've struggled with a constant sore throat and fatigue for months, and it has not been going away... In the past months it exploded into a bout of long hospital stays. I'm only 25, I've been so sick and all of this has crippled my life plans for the time being.
In despiration I've been pursuing alternative therapies. My acupuncturist pointed out that I have signs of a low grade infection in my system. Going back through my records I felt intuitively that all of my awful health probelms have to have stemmed from my wisdom tooth surgery somehow, and that it's possible I've had latent infections brewing in the extraction sites for years.
I finally researched cavitations and saw a biological dentist today. I got scans in which the extraction sites did seem very apparent, and the doctor pointed out three potential sites, with my jaw being the first priority to look into. So I think I will be going in for surgery soon, I am just scared of potential new infections, or triggering my syndrome again and getting really sick.. Any stories of successful cavitation surgeries lately?

There definitely looks something on your lower right, but probably a fair bit smaller than I would expect. Not much else screams out on your x-ray or CT that there is a cavitation there. That said, in my own case x-ray and CT basically showed nothing, and I had 2 large cavitations where my lower wisdom teeth were.
As for successfully surgery, I had both success and failure. Failure require repeat surgery, but I was completely crippled/house bound with 2 pockets of infection in my jaw. Today my health is good.
Just make sure you find a good surgeon. cavitation surgery does have a failure rate, and the surgeon must sometimes be quite aggressive in the removal of dead bone/infection, if any is left it will probably fail.- Re: Mystery Illness - cyclic vomitin... #137587

I would also consider 27-22-which might cause low back issue or bladder issue
Find a dds with a cavitat and get scan

This is a reply to # 2,330,249Thanks for your response - I'm currently in the process of asking my dentist more questions. I'm very trepid to move ahead because as you mentioned I really want to make sure the surgery is successful and there aren't any increased chances of infection.. or persistent infections.
I'm also very afraid, as I have been combing through everything I can find on this condition and there aren't many stories of this surgery.. The last thing I want is the inflammation of the surgery to further complicate my already low immunity..
It's good to hear it was successful for you.
Does anyone know of successful, trusted surgeons in the Los Angeles area? I got these scans and am currently seeing Joseph Sarkissian DDS. He claims to work on infected sites often, but mostly bad tooth canals. I'm not sure if he uses ozone or other bone/tubule disinfectants during the surgery; and another thing of concern to me is that he prefers suppliments over Antibiotics during and after the surgery..

Going into the weekend now and I feel a lot of anxiety abut this.. The dentist hadn't gotten back to me with my questions yet. I feel like this is something I may need done, but as has been mentioned, it needs to be done 100% right or else I may have more complications.. Which I am terrified of.
I was wondering if ozone therapy with another dentist would be a better place to start? It's less invasive and it would be easier to see the effects, if there are any. This dentist only asked for xrays, which I am concerned about; in absence of the cavitat or other more accurate MRI type scans, how does he really KNOW I have infections, and does he know their exact shape and size/depth?! How can I trust him with surgery?
How can I trust that the infection won't spread or get worse, if I'm not even sure he's using ozone or other microbial disinfectants during/after the surgery?
Another alarm is that he said I have a third site of cavitation, #16 beyond the two wisdom tooth sites #1 and 32, which I'm not sure about.. How can I have an additional place of infection where there's been not history of bone trauma to the site?!
Again just dealing with a lot of anxiety here.. And it doesn't help to think that I have this infection brewing, even though I've lived with it for three years.. But it's different now, I feel like I have chronic fatigue syndrome. I am getting depressed and feeling like whatever type of low-grade infection is happening in my body, is stealing days and months out of my life.. I've seen so many doctors already.

This is a reply to # 2,330,452Do you have x-rays before you had your wisdom teeth removed? Quite often if the periodontal ligament isn't explicitly removed during the time of an extraction, a 1mm cap of bone will simply grow over the top of the extraction site, leaving a cavitation in the bone. If you've had dry sockets this is pretty much guaranteed. Unless you've had abscesses around these teeth, the probably size and shape will be where the roots of the original teeth were. But it's not possible to see the exact size and shape of the lesion normally on x-ray, just a rough guide.
As for alternate therapies, don't waste your time or money on o-zone injections or less invasive therapies. Dentists probably shouldn't even offer them. A cavitation is literally an area of dead/gangrenous bone/hole. You don't want to inject anything in this, just surgically clean it out. Any dentist that places implants should in theory be well equipped to deal with cavitations, as the method of cutting down the bone with very low speed drills, and inducing bleeding in the socket is basically identical to what is done during cavitation surgery . Just without the final stage of actually placing an implant.
I can understand being anxious, I think I was before my operations, but it's not really that bad. You will have a sore mouth for a few days, but they heal up pretty fast.- Re: Mystery Illness - cyclic vomitin... #137587

If you want to be healthy again you don't have a choice-you need to attack the infection.
I would spend the money and see Dr Margolis in Phoenix-he work on cavitations and has a cavitat.
Nomatter who and what the surgery sometimes need to be done again.

Yes I had thought of going back and getting my old xrays, I'm unsure of which office had them so I went ahead quickly and did the new scans without the old to compare. I would be interested to see the differences between the images too.
I'm wary as to why this dentist I saw only ordered an xray. Maybe it came with a 3d cone scan too, I need to ask..
Here are some of the questions I asked which he answered in all caps. Hah
-How often have you done this surgery? I REMOVE A ROOT CANALED TOOTH WITH INFECTION AROUND IT AT LEAST TWICE A MONTH AND THESE ARE EASIER AS THERE IS NO TOOTH.
What were the outcomes? Were there many complications or persistent infections? THE AREAS HEAL REALLY WELL, NO RECURRENT INFECTIONS, BUT SINCE EVERY PERSON HAS A DIFFERENT COMPLAINT, SOME REPORT IMMEDIATE IMPROVEMENT, SOME FEEL LIKE A BURDEN WAS LIFTED, BUT NO NEGATIVE REPORTS.
-Do you use ozone or other forms of antimicrobial injections during the surgery? I RATHER NOT INJECT ANYTHING FOREIGN IN THE SITE, OZONE MAY BE A POSSIBILITY IF I CAN ORDER SOME STABLE VERSION OF IT.
-How clearly do my images show the sites that need to be excavated (are there 'mystery areas' that you won't know about until you're in there)?
I GENTLY FEEL AROUND FOR VOIDS WITHOUT HAVING TO MAKE THE ACCESS WINDOW TOO LARGE. THERE MAY BE SMALL OUTCROPPINGS THAT I WILL TRY TO FEEL WITH BLUNT INSTRUMENTS.

This is a reply to # 2,330,154I had three cavitation surgeries better, but not 100%.
I suspect it is because I have a fractured tooth, and
I know their an infection in there, and is now big enough where
the dentist might actually see it on his scan and finally do something about it.
My dentist is of the belief that a fall I took when I was
five where I broke a few teeth has caused cavitations issues
in my adult life.
It is tragic that so many people have to see so many MD
that are unable to assist them and located the cause of chronic
illnesses
Part of the reason is something that is very well known in the field
of alternative medicine The scans and tests that hospitals do are not
advanced enough or they are not doing the right test . Where ND are using
independent labs and also, the scans do not located small dental infections
until they are big, bad infections and can be seen on the scan.
I was told nuclear medicine is the key in locating these sorts of infections
I do not know if that is in fact the case, because I have avoided the test, because not thrilled about radioactive tracer, of course there are things that can be done to counter act the effects of it.
Just a side note, you want to consider a parasite test it also will capture what virulent strains from your teeth has gotten into your body. I believe DNA Connections is able to locate the DNA of all pathogens in the body. This is a big revolutionary thing, it should be on the front page of the newspaper, but it is not. Anyhow this test is helping tremendously alternative medicine doctors figure out what pathogens have taken host in the body, and they are going after those pathogens. You will never here about this from your MD. since they do not use independent labs.
