Supping with Iodine is very tricky. It would probably be best to include in these messages that one should have their iodine tested at Hakala labs before embarking on a very complex and sometimes incredibly difficult path of iodine supplementation. It can do wonders if it is what one truly needs, but it can be a complex journey that can create complications if not.

That's true about Vitamin D being a national problem, but low levels are directly tied to a disfunctional liver.

HI Grizz,
Did you ever have your iodine levels checked at Hakala labs in Colorado? If so, were you able to establish a base line for your levels before and after supplementation as recommendee by Brownstein? Which is a great book BTW, but not without flaws, of course.
I don't see any caveats with iodine supping expressed in your message. Some balance is desparately needed when presenting this topic.
Bromine detox from iodine supping is hell on wheels, and with a congested liver, it's even worse. And with chronic constipation, it is even worser:)
The only symptom the OP listed relating to your post were cold hands and feet which could be caused by a multitude of things. If the OP had come on here expressing issues of breast cancer, thyroid tumors, cysts on the breast, then yes, Iodine all the way.
Do you ever feel that you may be presenting iodine as a cure all? Maybe it was back in the 20's but we're not in Kansas anymore and there are many more issues we are facing, like Bio Engineered Microplasmas with US patents on them for example.
I would agree that Iodine has been maligned and possibly even on purpose to hide it's healing properties. But to embark on an iodine protocol when you are just starting out to address your health issues with metal fillings, constipation, skin issues is not a good idea IMHO. Detoxification can be brutal and can actually further damage the precious kidneys and liver, the very things we are all trying to improve.
"Unless you have been eating a LOT of fish, & seaweed then you are quite simply deficient."
I'm sorry Grizz, but this is silly. These statements need to be quallified. The OP can test iodine at Hakala, wouldn't you agree with that? I wouldn't even want to remotely leave the suggestion out there to anyone that eating saltwater fish is a "safe" way to bring up your iodine levels in any way at this moment in history.
