Not sure if either of those will work but I posted my Saliva and blood test results from ZRTLabs http://curezone.com/ig/i.asp?i=71738 . I am having the symptoms of adrenal fatigue. I went to see a chiropractor/nutritionist that does contact reflex analysis. He said my I had adrenal fatigue and put me on about 10 different supplements. They were the Standard Process supplements. Some were inexpensive, others were too much money for me. I also had issues with almost all of them having animal products in them and I couldn't find much info on where the animals really come from or if they were even healthy ones. Seems like a bad idea to put a bunch of effort into my health, then take supplements derived from random animals.
I eat very healthy, do not have enough energy to exercise but walk and chase 2 kids around. I get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. I have had issues with PTSD, low energy, constipation, being hormonal, fibrocystic breasts, constant lower back pain, feeling dehydrated and drained all the time, not refreshed by naps or sleep, nightmares, dry scaly patches on my knees and the tops of my big toes, yeast infections every few months (this one is gone after doing flushes), racing heart beat, hypoglycemia, weepiness, and who knows what else.
After trying the Standard Process supplements for about 3 months I gave up and switched to different, similar ones from Amazon. I am currently taking a bunch of supplements and not sure what to do anymore. After reading different books on how to feel better I began supplementing with different things.
In the past I've tried: (Reading From Fatigued to Fantastic) Doctors Best D-Ribose, Coffee Enemas, Doctors Best Magnesium, Now Foods L-Tyrosine, Doctors Best CoQ10, Match green tea powder. During this time, I was getting the yeast infections every few months so I tried to doing liver flushes and then using wormwood complex thinking I might have parasites. I has some stuff come out of me that looked like parasites, even put a full worm looking thing in a stool sample and the doctor told me the results came back negative for parasites. I am a Veteran so I go to the VA hospital for everything unfortunately. I had a flex sigmoidoscopy done, results came back fine. Nothing to tell, the primary doc said she would refer me to the GI clinic, no word a month later. E-mailed her and she said they should call me in the next 10 days, sorry about that.
Yeast infections stopped, started going to the chiro and got the standard process supplements. Didn't see much of a change after taking the supplements for over a month. The one thing that did change was I started waking up at 6 am and feeling wide awake. Not necessarily energetic, just awake. He said that was progress and kept treating me, changing the doses on supplements every couple of weeks. No relief on any of the other symptoms. The last appointment he said we might think about doing some testing through labs to make sure there isn't something missing. He said he would make a tincture for me that should help with energy, never heard back from him, didn't feel like wasting any more money there.
Here I am now, taking a bunch of supplements and I got the test results back from ZRTlab saying my pg/e2 ratio was low, and low vitamin d. Everything else was in the normal ranges.
What I'm currently taking daily (after getting the lab results and reading stuff online):
1 - Country Life Zinc 50mg
1 - Nutrigold Vitamin D3 5,000 IU
3 - Nutrigold Fenugreek Gold (One with each meal for constipation)
2 - Doctor's Best Magnesium 2x daily
2 - Now foods C-1000 (vitamin c sustained release)
2 - Vitamin Code Raw B-complex
2 - Vitamin Code Healthy blood (around my period for iron)
1 - Healthy Origins Natural Probiotic
Just started a few days ago:
2 - Nature's Way Dim-plus 2x daily, breakfast and dinner
1/4 teaspoon morning and night Kokoro Balance Creme Progesterone
1 Seriphos before bed.
Does anyone know if I am on target? My boyfriend thinks I am a nut for eating so healthy and taking all these supplements. He thinks I am just depressed and need to talk to someone about my PTSD. He even went as far as saying I'm a hypochondriac that might have something wrong with me. I feel like there is some underlying problem that can be fixed to help me feel better.
I've tried anti-depressants in the past and they seem to suppress some of the tiredness but don't work for long.
Other symptoms I forgot to write about: Cystic acne on neck and jawline.
Hi,
There is definitely a physiological impact from chronic stress. PTSD is not just psychological.
Chronic stress damages the body is so many ways. Your immune system stops, detoxification stops, even menstrual cycles stop for a lot of women.
Do you have a exaggerated startle response? i.e. are you jumpy? If you do, that means you sympathetic nervous system is dominant.
Meditation, Yoga and "slow breathing" are very helpful. Very helpful. It can take a few months to notice.
But you need to meditate twice per day for about 20 minutes. And also learn to watch yourself at all times to you catch yourself rushing around, getting angry, answering the phone too fast, etc.
Try doing everything is slow motion. Fold the clothes and wash your hair in Tai Chi style. It gradually trains your nervous system to calm down.
Do you have the classic afternoon "energy crash". This is another classic symptom of adrenal fatigue.
You mentioned coffee enemas. It can take a long time to get ride of toxins that accumulate during chronic stress.
I started focusing on detox about 2.5 years ago. I have been using hair analysis and the Nutritional Balancing program.
The link below is a trend I posted about 6 months ago. It shows my copper levels trending up as my body started to eliminate it from storage, into circulation and out with bile.
http://curezone.com/ig/i.asp?i=68874
My last copper reading was even higher.
Mercury, aluminum, arsenic, lead are also trending up over the last 2.5 years. I have been doing coffee enemas for about 2 years.
If you look at a few other user names, Hope4myadrenal, Onwards, Marie64 (all women), they are doing pretty well on the Nutritional Balancing program.
Here is Onwards profile. http://curezone.com/m/profile.asp?un=Onwards
I've "known" hope4myadrenals for a few years on this forum and nothing helped her.
It is a slow program .. and the detox usually makes people worse for a while. I thought I was going to die when I started copper detox 2.5 years. Just taking simple zinc was brutal (since it mobilzes copper).
A good book to learn the basics of copper toxicity is "Why am I so tired"
http://www.amazon.com/Why-Always-Tired-Correcting-Breakthrough-ebook/dp/B003J...
Another former user "Laredo" introduced us to copper and the connection to stress and adrenal fatigue.
If you read the book ... don't follow her protocol. It is not as good as Nutritional Balancing.
By the way. You mentioned low back pain. This is a symptom of adrenal insufficiency. Adrenal Fatigue is really sub-clinical adrenal insufficiency.
Good luck.
Hi -
My last reply was typed via my phone and I couldn't see what I was writing very well so it was kind of spotty.
I mentioned your Estrodiol simply because you were on the low end of "normal". You could be experienceing even more estrogen dominance symptoms due to the other estorgen values that they didn't test (estriol and esterone). The progesterone can be very helpful for that, but you may need a higher dose than you are currently doing. It looks like you are doing 30mg 2x/day = 60 mg/day. I was prescribed a cream from my natropath and I'm doing 150 mg/day and my levels are still not as ideal as they could be. Sometimes you need time to build up to it though so you don't send your body into a tail spin, but after the first few months it is usually pretty well tolerated. Do you have regular periods or do you go longer in between cycles?
As far as the androgens go, you will do yourself the most service by controlling your blood sugars (cutting down on starchy carbs and sugar), eating the healthy oils (coconut oil is wonderful as is high vitamin butter or just grass fed butter) and really avoiding the omega 6 oils. It does wonders for cramps. It also takes a few months to notice a difference. I say moderation is the best way. Small changes.
I have used Seriphos and sometimes it's helpful and other times it's not. My doctor told me only to use it when I tend to have high cortisol. Sometimes when your cortisol gets too low, you can actually get a surge of epinepherine which could be causing the poor sleep. It's such a delicate balance and it can be SO frustrating trying to find the right doses at the right times. Especially when your body is constantly in flux and every time you turn around it changes. I was off the Seriphos for a while due to low blood pressure and feeling like I was in a low cycle. Now, three days later, my body is waking up and my heart rate is elevated and I feel extremely itchy and anxious. I've started taking the Seriphos again to try and calm that down.
As to l-tyrosine, it can actually be stimulating. It converts to dopamine and norepinepherine, which we need for mental alertness and increased blood pressure but it's definitely a stimulant and can make you feel jittery. I don't do well on tyrosine at all. It has always over stimulated me in the past. As this point in your healing, you will want to stay away from anything that stimulates your system. If you notice that it is doing so, then I would back away. If not, then you are probably ok.
I cannot tolerate green tea, black tea or even defaf coffee. It's very sad, because I love a good latte, but my system is incredibly sensitive to stimulants.
Green tea by itself can increase both glutamate and GABA. Glutamate is an excitory chemical while GABA is a calming one. The caffeine in the green tea could also be sending you into an angry mood. Doing the l-theanine supplement should help calm down the glutamate and increase the GABA. But again, always trust your own reactions because every body is out of balance in its own way and will respond differently. Just experiment and see how you feel.
How is your blood pressure? Low or high?
Just know that you are not alone in your strange symptoms and it can be challenging to find balance. There are days I want to scream, but I just remind myself to be patient and that healing will come. I have healed many of my symptoms already. I used to suffer extreme PMS and lots of anxiety. I used to have terrible irritable bowel and social phobias. I can now say that my PMS is 90% releived, I have less cramps, I have less anxiety, I have zero irritable bowel and I can function much better in social settings. Now I'm just focusing on healing my tired adrenals and getting all of that back online. I has been a struggle, but it has also taught me a lot about hope, patience, and it has forced me to address and heal some of my emotional issues. Not such a bad thing.
Hi! Sorry for the delay. I wanted to say that AF affects the entire body and causes all kinds of crazy symptoms. I've had doctors wanting to diagnose me with PCOS as well, but I don't have high insulin or any blood sugar problems. I think that people with AF can mimic PCOS symptoms without actually having it and I think the body can and will balance out as the AF is addressed and healed at the deepest level.
Your sleep issues and skin issues, both acne and eczema are also coorelated with AF. It impacts your immune system and hormones. Each specilist will want to address your specific symptoms which could potentially create greater imbalance and worsen your overall condition. Just go in with an open mind and listen to your inner gut. Doctors only want to help, but they can't fix what they don't understand.
The low BP can be a real pain if you also have dizziness and weakness. Mine is really erratic. Sometimes it's 110/70 and sometimes 85/60. I get very dizzy and weak and nausea. Not fun!
I'm so glad that you are seeing some improvement on the progesterone. It's so nice to start fixing some of the annoying symptoms. Best of luck on your continued success!
