I have read everything, including chemical treatment.
My concern is Water table right now.
Have you been under a lot of Rain/Snow melt?
Are you lower than surrounding ground?
i.e. if you dug a hole some 10 feet away to a depth of 6ft. would you hit water?
I believe before trying any treatment, you need to lower the level and see if it rises on its own. If so, the area is saturated and no treatment will travel into surrounding ground.
If the water table is unusually high - TIME - is the only course of action until it recedes.
Removing as much water as possible may help to accelerate drainage.
If you are in a woodland area you may be able to pump water away from the Pit. If a residential area...........Oh Boy.
Edit to Add:
Super Cess Flo - Amazon $36.49 gal.
This several times over a few months along with Pit aeration may prove to fully restore function.
A Hakko 25 pump should work properly plumbed.
Found a few good forum post on the subject but this one won't let me link anything yet.
