I'll keep this as short as possible.
For the past 7 years, I have been doing law of attraction work (and admit to falling off the wagon a few times). I've also been praying and meditating. What I want is to manifest a move to my favorite city.
I've done a dream board. Yet, despite my best efforts, I apparently don't do meditation well. I've received false messages so I started working with golden light. The trouble is, since I've been burned in the past, I can't trust what I'm getting when I meditate.
Some of you might say, "If you want to move, then move". If only it were so simple! The house needs updating before it can go on the market, and that costs money. While, my husband works at home, he is nearing retirement age, so that must be factored in for future planning.
There is nothing left for me here in my town. In the last 10 years, it has deteriorated, making for bad quality of life. I've worked to change things for the better, talking and emailing local elected officials and working with like-minded people. The problem is, no matter who is in office, nothing gets done. Many of the people I've worked with moved away and the ones left feel demoralized and have given up.
So...Every year, we've spent a week in my favorite city. It gives us a chance to see shows, visit museums, try new restaurants and explore different neighborhoods. It helps energize me and make me feel alive. However, last year, we visited under sad circumstances---first to visit my terminally ill brother, then for his funeral. Most of my family lives near this city so when we visit, we tend to devote part of a day visiting them.
This year, I looked forward to visiting this city. My husband recently had back surgery which means that he is able to once again walk long distances.
Then, our daughter accepted a job transfer to this city. We tried to explain that it is an expensive area and that her rent will be higher. Yet, she wanted to go for more opportunities to advance.
Now, this will really impact our vacation. I know her well enough that she will be trying to horn in on our vacation. My husband thinks we should visit and not tell her but I don't like lying. Plus one of our grandsons has learning issues and I have bonded with him. He now cries when we leave to go home. That breaks my heart. Knowing that we would be nearby and not visiting him, I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself.
So...that's why I feel that the Universe is playing a cruel trick on me. Since I've yet to manifest a move, at least I was able to enjoy a week in this city every year which boosted my morale.
I recently had readings where I was told that I was a good manifester and am able to amplify my requests. Yes, I can do this to some degree, but the one thing I want most to manifest, I can't seem to do.
I'm struggling to stay positive but I feel like the Universe is taking away from me my favorite city.
Any advice? Thank you for reading and I look forward to reading responses.

This is a reply to # 2,151,980Sometimes we want something so bad, we choke the life out it. Make a list of things that need to be done to make this happen and commit to the top of the list until you can cross it off, working your way down until you can move. Attract the smaller things, so they collect into a bigger thing.

Hi, I haven't been learning about the LOA as long as you have but when I got back to the LOA last year I tried to make up for lost time and I've learned a lot about what's wrong with my own failure to manifest some things... and I can tell you that NO, the Universe is not playing a cruel trick on you, you just haven't understood and/or absorbed some things yet, but don't despair, it does take a lot of practice for most of us to re-program our minds, especially if we learned about the LOA later in life (which is my case too).
The bottom line is that The Universe can only give us those things that we are a vibrational match to, period. And as an impartial observer I can see by several things you wrote that you are really not vibrating high enough to match your desire. Please re-read your post and note that several times you are talking about circumstances that "are" which you obviously believe are standing in your way of moving to your favorite city (i.e. the house...). You are also anticipating situations you don't want, which is a big "no-no". One of the first things we are told by all teachers of the LOA, is that we should NOT give what we don't want any attention nor should we talk about it; it would serve you best to dedicate more time to visualize what you DO want and speaking only in line with what you desire because "The Universe" will give us what we don't want if that's what we're really attracting to ourselves.
My suggestion to you is that you go back and read "The Secret" or watch the movie periodically to keep the main concepts fresh in your mind, also other books on the LOA, to get different points of view (this way it's easier to find those that truly resonate with where you're at now). I also recommend that you watch LOA videos regularly, some very good ones are those by Abraham Hicks you can find tons of them on YouTube. Also, I'd like to mention that not long ago I joined a support group on FB that has a ton of free material available on file and more constantly shared by other members. Oh, and I can tell you that I've been where you are, wanting to get out of a place that I could not make work for me but I didn't even know specifically where I wanted to move to, just the general area so it took me about 2 years of research and prayers but the truth is that God/The Universe revealed the ideal place to me in the very beginning I just didn't realize it then. And while I didn't have a house to sell, I had no money to move with but by keeping my desire and faith alive (didn't really know about the LOA then) on the 2nd year things began to move, I was given money to move and a series of synchronicities happened which opened different doors for me to be able to move and survive many months without a job, so you HAVE to BELIEVE, and by the title of your post it's easy to see that you are struggling with doubts...

This is a reply to # 2,157,979Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate your post as I needed to be reminded of certain things (ex: don't give attention to what I don't want).
I have the book "Ask and It is Given" by Esther and Jerry Hicks. You are correct---it is time for me to pull it out again and get to work!
Some things I have been continually doing, such as going on a "rampage of appreciation", especially when I leave the house and am in the car. I look for things to appreciate. Also, on a daily basis, I say out loud all the things that are good in my life. Some days I do it, but it is difficult on those days when I feel situationally depressed.
I know that in part, in order to get the energy moving in the right direction, I need to start working on the house again---cleaning out junk, making the repairs that I can personally do or calling companies to help with the bigger things.

Believe me, I know how hard it can be while living surrounded by a lot of evidence of "what is"! Ironically enough, today I woke up having trouble with my thoughts, all because I realized I was running out of something I really need but "at the moment" don't have the money to buy... A couple of years ago, thanks to paying too much attention to things as they were (like not understanding why a job I manifested was not the right one for me) I started a process that has been my undoing. My greatest mistake was to walk away from learning more about the LOA at that time due to conflict with my religious beliefs, all that did was to push "a snowball down a hill" and you know what happens with that... it just kept rolling down faster and getting bigger, and I've ended up in a situation that's now a big challenge for me, but knowing as I do now how REAL the LOA is, I've no choice but to keep at it, trying to "lay down new pipes" until right thinking becomes second nature in me.
So you're definitely NOT alone, actually telling you what I saw was a reminder of what I myself need to keep doing, we're all in this boat together y'know. I will pray that the problems with your house are speedily and easily resolved and that you may find many ways to stay hopeful. Maybe it'll help to think of other times when you manifested good things and how you did it... I know that has helped to encourage me. During a couple of difficult times I made myself lists of all the times I could remember when things got resolved "miraculously" for me, most happened long before I was aware of the LOA so it was "neat" to see it at work in the positive so many times. I now look at those lists every time I feel like "this time things are different...", the truth is that it doesn't matter how different or difficult a new situation is, it's whether we have faith that we're going to get through it just fine or not what counts. And I thank God for what Mike Dooley said about not worrying about the "hows", that that is the Universe's job, 'cause boy, do I love to go there and then lose faith when I don't see a way!

I like your idea of making a list about times when things in your life got resolved miraculously. I, too, can think of times in my life when I had this happen to me.
I need to read up again on how to manifest a move. There is a chapter in the book I mentioned that discusses this---and I need to re-familiarize myself with this.

Sorry I forgot to come around here, for some reason I cannot get notifications to my e-mail no matter how many times I've checked the settings.
I am glad that my post helped to remind you of what you already know. It's not easy to keep our eyes on what we want when "what is" gets so much of our attention each and every day. I am presently having a problem with food, which according to Abraham all boils down to our not being in the vortex... but I thought I was and felt it was the foods that don't seem to agree with me which knocked me off... so, there are areas that are not easy for me to grasp, but we live and learn.
I sure hope you can get the desires of your heart if that'll make you happier, but I want to share with you something I just now heard Abraham say (once again...): that everything we want is really because we believe we will feel better by having it... which sometimes is true and sometimes not. I for example, became very negative about living in S. FL because of the hurricanes, increasing cost of living, etc., until I got truly fed up with living there and I truly believed that if I was able to move to a "better" place my health would improve, I'd stop being depressed, and I'd lose weight, ALL of which began happening a few months after I moved (to SC) but then, I lost all the progress I'd made about a year later [I must say here this happened after I stopped following the LOA...] and since then I've been struggling to get my footing back. While I don't really want to move back to where I came from, I've seen with dismay that it's not the place where I live that can do "the magic" of sufficiently motivating me to do "what I need to do", right now I'm working on really loving myself better because I heard that's what will really get me there...

I understand about food! I've set modest goals for myself. For example, I have a pair of jeans that are snug and my intention is to have them fit better. I, too, have issues with foods that don't seem to agree with me either. So, when I remember to do it, I say to myself when I go out to eat "I intend to have a nice meal which will agree with me." When I remember to do this, I find that things work out. I also try to not give negative attention such as worrying if something won't agree with me.
Lately, I've been working on staying in the vortex. Sometimes I test myself by doing a task that sometimes leaves me frustrated and annoyed. If I get through it without getting upset, I tell myself how proud I am of myself for staying in the vortex.
Right now, I'm cleaning out stuff in the house. They say doing tasks like that help move the energy in the direction that you want to move in.
I hope that you aren't being hard on yourself for losing progress. The same thing has happened to me, too. Every now and then it helps to remind yourself to get back into the vortex. I also think it's good to share progress reports as it reminds us to keep moving forward in a positive way.

This is a reply to # 2,151,980The Law of Attraction is incomplete knowledge. This is very important to understand. Those who place too much (or all) of there emphasis on the Law of Attraction will fall short of achieving your true purpose. The Law of Attraction is very real and it is simply that you attract what you are. All of the teachings that you have probably read say this in many different ways. Yes there are various techniques you can use, but if you want to attract different things, you have to change yourself at your core. Sometimes we think we have changed our self but it is only on a superficial level.
Have you ever heard of the Law of Karma? That's right, there is not only one law in the universe. Those who only learn about the Law of Attraction and think they have the whole picture are sadly mistaken. The Law of Karma is a very powerful force in our lives and is a huge factor in life events and cause good fortunes and misfortunes. We can use the Law of Attraction to influence Karma but understanding these two separate forces is vital. Karma can be changed and destroyed completely but it takes a lot of work and meditation.
In my opinion, the absolute key to life is understanding your purpose. When we use the Law of Attraction we are using it as imperfect humans and we may not fully understand our purpose. We may manifest things that are not beneficial in the long run and we may be blocked to manifesting things that are not in our best interest. Look into yourself, pray to know your purpose, right now and long-term. When you sync up what you are attracting with your true purpose, in accordance with what your Higher Self desires for you, that is when the true power of the Law of Attraction comes to light. Your Higher Self always desires only bliss and joy for you and wants you to shed selfishness and attachments. I do know---and have known for a long time---that I belong in a city environment. Living where we are now has only reinforced to me that city life is for me.
As for Karma---on a daily basis, I make an effort to put out good Karma.
As for meditation---I do still occasionally do it. However, as I said in my original post, I've been burned as bad entities have intruded and given me false messages. I now ask the Archangel Michael to protect my sessions and make sure that only those that I invite in come into my "office".
For my own peace of mind, I would like to know the reason I'm being kept here. A few years ago, a medium told me that there is someone here who needs me and that I may or may not realize it when I encounter this person. Once I help him/her, I will be able to move.
Still, I know in my mind and in my gut that moving is the answer. Living here has affected both my mental and physical health, as I work to fight off situational depression. I know it's situational because when I do visit my favorite city, my mood brightens considerably. - Re: I feel like the Universe is play... caldrouin

This is a reply to # 2,151,980It looks to me like you have to dig deeper. Everything is a mirror. Your house needs work. Your town needs work. Your relationship with your daughter needs work. This leads me to believe that there are feelings and desires within you that have been shoved down for a very long time. It's all a reflection.
Speak to your daughter honestly but kindly. Let her know how you feel. Your needs are as important as hers. If you want this time with yourself and your husband, tell her so. Make arrangements to get together with her on another occasion.
Also, being positive is great advice. However, if it's just covering up uncomfortable issues, it's counterproductive.
Give yourself permission to feel the stuff you've been avoiding. It won't go away by slapping a smiley face on it.
Feel it until you get to the raw emotion of it. That's when you've reached the subconscious and that's where your limiting beliefs live.
I'm not going to sugar-coat this. I've done it and it feels horrible. But, it doesn't last long. Once you've found the limiting belief and met it at the subconscious level, you can release it.
This is just an example but let's say it's a fear about being trapped in your present circumstances. (Personally, I think there's something deeper going on, but you have to start somewhere.)
Tap on your forehead and say, "This fear that I'll be stuck here forever no longer serves me." Feel what it would be like to never get out of there. I know how harsh that sounds, but you have to get to the raw emotions to reach the subconscious.
When you've gone as deep as you think you can possibly go, tap on your heart area and say, "It's safe to let it go. It's time to let it go. I don't need it." Take three really deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth.
You may have to do this a few times. You also might find underlying issues when you do it. That's good. Work through all of them. Not necessarily at the same time.
I'd love to hear if you tried this and how it worked for you. You're going to be OK. Life is a journey and sometimes the road can be really bumpy. But, you will get to the other side.
