I suggest you guys should not just try, but USE this remedy Phoebe suggests here.
I tried to get the mixture myself but I couldn't get witch hazel in Nigeria. So I googled witch hazel to find out what it does and try to see if I could get an alternative herb here. Then I realized its specific functions matched those of a herbal cream available here. So I tried it, and voila! It disappeared within 2-3 applications. I felt a mild pain the first day but subsequently, none. It flattened in less than 3 days!
In fact, it unblocked the opening that must have been blocked and the gland functions normally now. It doesn't build up anymore, its painless, and most of all it functions normally. Nigerian babes out there suffering from bartholin's gland inflammation, you don't need to subject yourself to a surgical blade, pain and thousands of Naira! All you need is just 100 naira. Go to a chemist and ask for authentic herbal cream. Or better still, when you see those guys that hawk them, buy one. I still can't believe that I have been suffering for the past 2 years all because of 100 Naira! I would have just subjected myself to severe pains and loss of money!

I was @ two different docs this week which the first doc failed to drain it properly so it felt even worse after the 2nd doc suggested going to the ER.......okaay! Hi, I have just recently gotten my second cyst. My first one was about 4 years ago and I had to get it drained because it was so large and painful that I could not sit. This time around, I started to notice it about a month ago. For a short time it went down in size and pain, and thought it was going away on its own. During the past week, I was under a lot of stress ( I read that may contribute to it) and it flared up to the point that I had to take off work today. My boyfriend found this page and went to get the supplies for the remedy last night. I was pleased to find that after applying it off and on for a cpl hours it felt better, and when I woke up this morning it had a small amount of puss coming out of it. I then decided to take an Epsom Salt bath for the hope that it would burst. Still nothing though.. now it just seems as if I have made the skin raw. Thank you for this, Pheobe. I had a Bartholin's Cyst 6 years ago. I was perscribed Antibiotics and it eventually went away. Unfortunately, last week after having intercourse I developed a cyst that quickly turned into an abscess. It was painful and debilitating. For a few days, I couldn't walk or sit without it bothering me.

Just last night, it spontaneously burst. It seriously has been the most relief I've ever felt because prior to it bursting, the pain was unbearable. I was woken up at 3am by it and couldn't go back to sleep for 2 hours. It was a very intense burning pain from the inside out. I was about to go to the ER when it burst. My abscess was skin deep and did not come to a head. It burst from the inside. Other than fuicidin cream that was perscribed to me, I didn't take any oral Antibiotics for my abscess. Instead, after researching on the net here's what I did for a week:

Sitz Baths with Epsom Salts 3-4 times/day
If you don't have a bathtub, you can buy a sitz bath at your local drugstore which is placed over your toilet. I sat in my baths 3-4 times a day, 30mins - 1 hour each.

Pheobe's Method 2-3 times/day
Warning: some may have more sensitivity than others to Tea Tree Oil. It can feel like a burning sensation on your skin. Try 1/2 a teaspoon first and move up to 1 teaspoon if you don't feel a reaction.

Hot Compresses - as much as possible
Keep a warm compress on your cyst as much as possible through out the day. Heat will slow down the pus/mucus production in your cyst and may even keep the trapped liquid from getting too thick. A heat pad works best, wrap in it a thin clean cotton shirt so you don't expose your skin to synthetic materials like plastics/rubber.

Drank garlic tea 1-2 times/day
Garlic is a natural antibiotic. Although garlic tea doesn't sound appetizing, I was desperate. Cut up 3-4 cloves and boil them.

The night my abscess burst, I rotated a hot compress with a cold compress. This may have also helped it happen because I've read other women say that they did this as well before it burst. During my week (where I was mostly in bed with a compress), I spent a lot of time reading every single forum/website I could on Bartholin's Cysts. I hope all of my collected info can help you out.

Hi Phoebe I'm an African American female early twenties and i have just experienced my first bartholin cyst/abscess. I would like to say it was caused because i had unprotected sex with an uncircumcised guy and or from the birth control(implanon) That's been giving me all kinds of (hormonal) problems since i got it. I had my first bartholin cyst ever since last sunday. It was a manageable pain until three days ago where I was in tears every few hours from the pain. I came across your post yesterday and was totally prepared to go to the pharmacy today and pick up supplies, but I scheduled an appointment with a gyno because I was in that much pain. I knew what it was already from countless hours of research on the internet so when the doctor told me that's what it was, it was no surprise.

But she did encourage me to try the home remedy of soaking in very hot salt baths 4 times a day first until it popped and she prescribed me Antibiotics which I can't take anyways from allergies to amoxicillin. She said if it didn't go away in a few days that she would lance it for me, but that would be even more painful than the pain I was experiencing at the moment. And odds were that it would close quickly and definitely come back. It was nice to hear that she didn't want to lance it right away to get it over with as I've read about many women having it lanced only to come back days later and hurting worse.

Soooo.. low and behold I was in the middle of Grand Central Station on my way home from the doctor back to Brooklyn when my stupid cyst burst open. It felt like a rush of liquid falling out. I booked it to the restroom and found blood and puss coming out. IMMEDIATE relief. I was so happy. After squeezing my legs together for the hour journey home on the subway, I finally made it home to take a hot salt bath to clean out. And then I applied Phoebe's calamine, tea tree oil, and witch hazel solution to the remaining lump. Any pain left over stopped right away upon application. And it has helped in keeping the draining process going.

I am so happy that this problem is almost gone. I'll continue my hot salt baths 3 times a day for a week just because I'm paranoid and probably once a night for like ever!!! just to be safe!! : )

i had my first bartholin's nightmare about 2 yrs ago. it was awful. things never went completely back to normal, but i was okay until yesterday. both times this happens when i can't do anything other than the e.r.. so, being desperate, i improvised your remedy. i have a product with the same active ingredient as calamine, i had witch hazel, but no tea tree oil. i did several hot sitz baths with epsom salt, and did the cotton ball thing after. it burned a bit. when i went to use the bathroom this morning, i found blood and thought i had gotten my period. but i'm pretty sure it was stuff that came out of the cyst while i was asleep. the relief i experienced overnight was amazing. i don't suffer from this condition chronically, so i don't know if it's advisable for everyone, but it has definitely helped me. super hot, Epsom Salt sitz baths (4 @10-15 min.), and one time with the witch hazel and calamine for at least 30 min. once a day.). i'm am so relieved. to all of you strong women who suffer with this; you have my sympathy. this is some nasty bullshit. nobody should have to deal with this. good luck, ladies! xo

Hello, I want to share my experience with this treatment. I have been a long-time sufferer of this beast. I had my first in my late teens. I have had several lanced, had marsupialization, and finally surgery to remove the cyst wall (supposedly). The surgery was in 1993. I was cyst-free for many years, but I would notice a lump occasionally in that spot. It was painless and never changed size, but would come and go over the years. I went on to have two babies and am now mid-way through menopause.

About two weeks ago, I noticed the lump, but it was tender. By the next day, it was full-blown back. It was over the weekend, so I had to endure until I could call my Gyno on Monday. I went in and got re-acquainted with my old "friend" the lance. It drained for about two days with sitz baths and I thought I was done. But yesterday, it was back again! I found this forum and went right out and bought the tea tree oil. I mixed the ingredients exactly as Phoebe described and applied to a cotton ball to the area for 30 mins. It brought relief, but did not drain. I tried again a few hours later, the same treatment. I went to use the bathroom, and... it burst! Such relief! It is almost completely drained now and I will do another treatment today just to be sure. I am shocked this worked, because I have tried every other remedy in the past with no luck. I have never had one burst spontaneously - always had to have it lanced.

How many days was your cyst present before u tried this remedy? Usually these this will not rupture until it has reached its peak! Very painful peak about 3-4 days in its presence.

If I could kiss you I would. I had realized I had this 4 days ago. I did the sitz baths, warm water with Epsom salt, warm compresses while I slept, apple cider vinegar, an apple cider vinegar and baking soda paste with warm compresses... Nothing worked. I tried to get rid of it without having to contact a doctor. On the 4th day (today) was my most painful day yet. I decided to try this... I went to the store and bought what I needed. Came home and did this, followed by another sitz bath. About an hour later I was in so much pain I was literally in tears and I called my ob-gyn... She put me on hold to see if they could fit me in. Literally while I was on hold the thing ruptured! I have never been that excited for nasty stuff to come out of my body before... This totally works!! Thank you so much!!!!

So I have tried the above "potion" as I call it for the past 3 days and it has done nothing positive to my cyst except make it aaaangry. It now kind of itches/burns which it didn't before.

Hx: Mine is about marble size and never hurt but I just wanted to get rid of it as we all know it looks quite awkward & anything strange growing on your body of course causes stress. Plus my boyfriend is scared to have sex with me now and I'm scared to try also!

Other: I also have been taking Serrapeptase 120,000 x3 in the AM for the past 2 days. Still nothing. I have now ordered silica. Before these options I tried the constant sitz baths multi times a day for 10-15 mins each. Feeling really sad and desperate as getting rid of this little thing is on my mind allll the time.

Note: Saw an NP and she said as long is its not getting bigger or bothering me its not worth getting drained.

I've had this recurring cyst for about 2years now. Tried phoebe's mix and it really worked along with taking long sitz baths as hot as youcan tolerate. But now it has reappeared on the other side but it is very deep. It is also very hard. I tried the mix but it doesn't seem to help. I also read on a website to take a couple drops of tea tree oil on my fingertip and rub the bump. I notice that the pain has stopped. Iwant it to rupture altogether. Does anyone know of something that ican try to bring it to a head? Please.
