This remedy worked for me. I was so ecstatic. I had suffered with excruciatig pain for three days (after a week of moderate pain) and finally I sucked it up and looked for a home remedy. I don't have insurance, and as I've already had two lanced in the last 5 years, I couldn't imagine how much it would cost.

I didn't have the calamine lotion. The first compress I used the witch hazel and tea tree oil and 4 hours later I used chamomile tea, witch hazel and tea tree. All the time I did massage the cyst. Nine hours later, the cyst drained. The pain is almost completely gone. Yay! I can stand and sit again.

I recommend making sure you have pads on hand. I use tampons for my monthly, so I've had to send my husband out for supplies... but other than that I am mighty pleased with this remedy. I know it has saved me hundreds of dollars.

I had a cyst,did not try Phoebs solution, but did soaking. Yesterday was the most painful, especially last night, just as i was about to go to the ER, something happened,it burst. Immediate relief. No one said on any of these sites that there would be pain like that. My advise is pain meds, tylonol did not work, you will need something much stronger.

Hi Phoebe, I wish i had found your post a few days ago. i had this devil of a cyst for about 3 days and 2 nights. i sat in hot water for about half an hour each night and i actually slept with no underwear and a heat pad all night. It was hard for me to walk and it kept me up at night. for pain i took naproxen and the chewable aspirin orange flavor. I even poked it with a needle (needle didn't work). then today i laid down with the heat pad for about 45 minutes and i felt this relief. i went to the bathroom to pee and took a mirror and looked at it. it had popped and i squeezed the rest out which was not painful at all. THANK YOU for sharing this information. After having 2 marsupiaisatin surgeries in the past, I thought my days of Bartholin gland abscesses were over. Then 4 days ago an extremely large one appeared over night. After 2 very painful days without an success with sitz baths, I was becoming desperate for relief. I really didn't want to go back to the doctor and experience the pain or embarrassment that entails! (I had 1 doctor explain to me the proper way to wipe, as if I wasn't aware and I was somehow to blame for this horrible cyst!) Then I found your post. It was so reassuring to know that other women had experience this and that it could be healed without being cut on once again.

I didn't have any Calamine lotion or Witch Hazel but I remembered that Castor oil was used to shrink pimples. So I took a round flat cotton pad and soaked it with the Castor oil and added 2 drops of Melaleuca (Tea Tree Oil). I only use CPTG essential oils especially in such sensitive areas! I began to drink lots of water with fresh lemon to get my bodies PH back in balance, I took an Emergen-C to boost my immune system and decided a day of rest was required.

After 3 sitz baths as hot as I could stand (20 minutes each) with Epsom Salts and an entire day of keeping the cotton pad on and simply replacing it every so often with a fresh one, THE CYST DRAINED!!! It was instant relief. If only I knew about this sooner I wouldn't have suffered for so long. My cyst was so large I couldn't even it properly. If this worked on me, it will work for you. Thank you so much for the home remedy! Unfortunately, for me I'll have to wait to try it tomorrow since I do not have all the ingredients handy. I have been struggling with these cysts/ abscess for about 9 months. I've already had 4! When I noticed my first one back in May, I cried. I thought I was growing a testicle! Haha. Through some quick research I quickly found out what it really was and went to the doctors. I was put on Antibiotics and hydrocodone for the pain. Both of which did nothing. After about 4 days the pain was so unbearable laying down was a chore, and don't even get me started on trying to walk to use the rest room. I was bed ridden, in pain, wordering how the hell I ended up with this thing! It finally burst that night while I was asleep and what a relief it was. After it healed I thought I'd never have to deal with it again until it came back twice in August. This time it wasn't quite as bad, but again I was on Antibiotics and doing Epsom Salt sitz baths, which I think worked for the most part. It didn't burst, it just slowly went away. Well now this is the 4th time and it is even worse than the first time. It's been 5 days since I started Antibiotics and no progress. I can't do sitz baths, as I physically cannot get out of bed. I would not wish this on my worst enemy! Most painful and depressing thing I've gone through. I feel hopeless knowing that they are reoccurring. Any other remedies or tricks, I am willing to try!!!!!

Where ever you are, you are so appreciated. There aren't enough hugs in the world. This worked for me. I was in a lot of pain and didn't want to take the chance of removing this gland, especially when I have read that the problem Can recur afterwards. The only change I made was to start with only 1/2 oz of tea tree oil. I wanted to be careful because some people are allergic to it. My husband can get hives from it. So I started with only 1/2 oz of tea tree, 1 oz witch hazel and 1 oz of calamine lotion. I soaked a regular sized cotton ball put it in place over the gland and put on a pad. I wore it around for a couple of hours. I noticed after about an hour it started to itch. Not in a burning itching something's wrong itch. It was like something was healing itch. Later when I went to change the cotton ball I decided to take a hot bath. As hot as I could stand it. After about twenty minutes I cleaned my self. While I was still in the tub I used a mirror to look at it and noticed a white head on it. I went ahead and squeezed it, which was not as painful in the tub as the first time I had tried to squeeze it days before. It was no problem. It burst and drained so easy. I cleaned myself of again got out of the tub and dried off. I went ahead and soaked another cotton ball with the same mixture and but it back in the same spot. I will post again later when I check it again. I will say that currently it is itching again but in that way that feels like a cut that is growing new skin. Like it is healing. I've had an abscess and a cyst that came about a year apart. The first time I was hospitalized because of blood loss and my blood being poisoned, it was the size of a grapefruit (no lie) The second time, I had a word cather, and it took a little over year to reappear this time. I have had one of these nasty cysts for two weeks. I woke up in the middle of the night and it hurt so bad I thought I might die. This morning I sent hubby to the store for the
Calamine, witch hazel and tea tree oil. I did just what you said, left it on for 30 minutes. 3 hours later it drained all by itself!

Hi all, I tried something and it worked really well so I wanted to share it. A simple description of a Batholin's cyst is that mucus or secretions can't drain properly. I wondered if guaifenesin, which is used to thin chest mucus, might thin the mucus of a Batholin cyst. I went to the drug store and bought generic expectorant with only guaifenesin. Of the ones available, I bought the ones with the highest guaifenesin content. I took three pills which was more than directed. Within eight hours, out of no where, I noticed my underwear was wet. The cyst had drained.
