Found this study interesting, but not sure if it is a typo or I'm reading wrong.
So, why don't they use iodine instead of all the other garbage?
We conclude that in patients with MRSA pneumonia an approach using a 7-day course of intravenous linezolid plus rifampicin, intratracheal vancomycin, nasal mupirocin, cutaneous and oropharyngeal chlorhexidin plus povidone-iodine cures pneumonia and is effective for MRSA eradication.

Povidone-iodine is a combination of two chemicals called polyvinylpyridine and iodine and is available as an antiseptic cream or as gargling solution. This can be prescribed by the physician to eradicate MRSA from skin or throat. An article published in the November 2004 edition of the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia suggests that in patients with MRSA in their throat, gargling with povidone-iodine before the procedure of oral intubation, which involves insertion of a tube through the patient's respiratory or digestive tracts to prevent the collapse of airways, leads to complete eradication of MRSA.

My mom has colonized mrsa in her nose and we did pure colloidal silver in the neti pot, 2x per day for a week and she was still positive.
Colloidal silver works well at stopping mrsa lesions, but for systemic mrsa, you need a much higher concentration than 20ppm.
Just got the test results back from a mrsa naires swab test and it came back negative.
Of course, she will need to do 2 more tests to verify, but this shows that iodine works against mrsa.
I tried pure colloidal silver 20ppm 2x per day for over a week and she was still positive.
This time, I used 1:100 Lugol's 5% iodine to distilled water in a neti pot and 1/8 tsp baking soda 2x's per day for 3.5 days and the mrsa came back negative.
WOO HOO! Iodine does it again.
Hi Bul,
Sorry for the late response, but I haven't been logged in here for a while.
As far as we know, she has not had it back, but we have not done anymore testing for it.
Her wbc went way down from 12 down to 6.9 once she became negative.
I mixed 1 tsp lugol's 5% with 2 cups distilled water in a separate container to keep for future rinses.
I added the baking soda into the neti pot after pouring the lugol's in.
The baking soda is there just to keep the lugol's from stinging too much.
My mom had colonized mrsa from quinolone antibiotics.
I keep her D levels into the optimum range of 60-80ng/mL which kept the mrsa in check.
Colloidal silver works very well for skin mrsa, but not on colonized.
Hope this helps,
paraboy
I agree that companies will do what ever they can to boost the market of their products, but ionic silver studies are not present in their proof of product effectiveness.
Purest Colloids has their own lab reports for proof. Ionic silver can do the same.
In my experience, mesosilver works externally on mrsa ulcers but doesn't work internally to stop colonized mrsa in the nares.
Only iodine worked to erradicate internal mrsa colonization in the nares with an immediate drop in WBC count.
However, killing the mrsa in the nares always seems to flare my mom's autoimmune disease (Microscopic Polyangiitis).
