Basically what's going on here is this... everyone has bacteria in their saliva, and that bacteria makes an easy target of your irritated lips and causes further inflammation and peeling... as i said, even if you don't necessarily have an infection... this is why the
Antibiotics can help manage but do not cure the condition, because the condition is chronic and in your lips regardless... the problem is you should't use
Antibiotics for long durations of time, esp if you don't have an infection because you can develop resistant strains of bacteria and the cream will stop working and if you do happen to get an infection, at that point, it can pose big problems...
right now, i'm applying a thin layer of fucidin 3 times a day underneath prevex hc (prescription) and regular prevex, which are barrier creams and act as moisturizers as well... i also add a layer of vaseline on top at night because the prevex tends to make the lips stick together... prevex is also effective in reducing buildup because it coats the lips very well... i'm also not manually peeling the skin, though a few nights ago, i did not apply the vaseline, my lips stuck together and the buildup ripped off... since this point, using this combination of topicals, my buildup has pretty much ceased... only been a few days though so i'll wait another week to see exactly where this protocal stands.
I do not plan on using the
Antibiotic too long... i'm just experimenting with it right now while doing my moist healing treatment to lessen inflammation and hopefully help snap my lips out of this chronic cycle.
cureforcurezone was an active poster on this forum and he stopped his peeling for 6 monrhs with fucidin before it became resistant and stopped working for him.
