This is an update, I'm really pleased with the result. Two weeks ago, I had to have my wedding ring cut off my finger, my whole hand was swollen, fingers numb, and after a second treatment with the
Iodine painting, my symptoms are a lot better.
I talked to someone today who had treated his gout with allopurinol, and the surgery- that's standard.
I am also eating no meat shellfish baked goods (yeast, brewers yeast and baking yeast are not good) broccoli, mushrooms, and chugging down as much apple cider vinegar as I can without heart burn or just throwing it up. Also turmeric bromelain,
Celery seed.
The joint at the base of my index finger which was badly enlarged is back to regular size, my only remaining symptom other than being really tired because the fever finally went away is some numbness in my finger tips. I can deal with that, after not being able to use the hand for three weeks or so.
You are supposed to move the joints that have gout as much as you can, but it's very hard to do because it's so painful, but I actually felt something slide out of the joint in my hand last night when I was flexing it. I presume that was a uric acid crystal, could have been my imagination, but I will definitely take the lack of pain, and the reduced swelling.
What I read is that when
Iodine was used in the 1800's for gout, people painted the soles of their feet- probably because gout usually hits the big toe. I have no idea if
Iodine would be helpful for any other type of arthritis, I suspect it works because is dissolves the uric acid crystal.
Once I realized I had gout about 6 months ago, I started changing my diet, now it's about right- I can't get away with anything that is even doubtful. A lot of people with gout can eat chicken and fish, but I can't, and even with all the changes I had made I was considering the meds. Gout really hurts, no question about it. The iodine really took down the swelling and pain, immediately.
I did try iodine supplementing for about a year, but I've decided my thyroid gland really is somewhat toasted, I grew up near the Santa Susanna Missile testing range in southern California, like a lot of people in the area, I got too much radiation, and I am lucky that all I have in an under active thyroid.
I did try iodine supplementation as described on this forum, but it did not improve my thyroid problem. However, I knew the protocol, and I knew to take boron and selenium and vit c with the iodine.
It is good to be feeling better, and I hope someone else tries this, I seem to have rediscovered something that works.
