Yes, I agree with you. Her testimony was very inspiring and I'm sure it helped many others. I wonder if she lost any spiritual benefits from the fast due to sharing it on You Tube. She did try to keep the fast secret in other ways from what I gathered.
She also used the videos to help keep her accountable. Her husband as well as making the videos kept her motivated to the end.
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matthew 6:5-6 KJV
Yes, Jesus also said the same thing about prayer and giving. Yet, we gather together and pray and God does answer. If we had to pray in secret every time we prayed, a minister could not even lead in prayer at church because others would know about it. We could not even pray for someone in their presence because they would know about it and it would no longer be a secret. I personally think these scriptures refer to someone being a hypocrite and doing these works just to show off before men.
God definitely wants me to fast and pray, but I have a problem with laziness and lack of discipline in the matter. I joined the water fasting forum on curezone a few years ago thinking the support from the forum would help motivate me. It did not work out because my beliefs are too different from the mainstream beliefs on the forum. I soon realized I cannot look to this forum for the support I need for what I need to accomplish. I still read the forum occasionally as I find time. There are some excellent posts there from which I have learned. Some of the posts there have been very inspiring and motivational. I did find a few Christians posting there with similar beliefs to mine.
I also tried the curezone blog system when things were really hard. It did help keep me accountable, but I need to make more progress.
I envy all of you who are so well disciplined that you do not need support. This seems to me like almost everyone on curezone accept me. :( You all can truly fast in secret and the Lord will reward you openly. :)
I am planning to try a new thing. I hope it will not get me banned from this forum. I am 15 hours into a water fast. I plan to update on this thread to help keep me accountable. I will try to keep it in secret in every other way. This may be a test for me to see if I still get spiritual benefits. Then again would I even know what the benefits would be if I could keep it in total secret? I will see what happens. I hope the Lord will lay it on the heart of some to pray for me that His will be done in the matter. I will not be able to continue on a water fast the whole time because I do have a job. I am setting a goal of forty days to fast. This will include different types of fasts. I wish it could be all water, but I know that is not realistic for where I am at. I will try to do as much of it as possible on just water. I hope to keep the posts limited to this thread so it will not be a possibility to overtake the forum. I feel fasting and prayer is part of the Biblical belief system, but this forum is about more than just that.
Heya RAiny, thank you for such a warm and enthusiastic welcome :*).
I feel that i have transitioned away from Mighty, so maybe Ed is good? ;)
"As you can see he is into dry fasting. Dry fasting is in the Bible."
Yes i'm surprised i became convinced (about 2 or 3 years ago) that dry fasting is the most beneficial (as well as aggressive) of them all and began fasting that way. I still like to water-only fast as well, but generally with as much dry as possible within. I believe that God very deeply blesses either one when our hearts are humble before Him and our fast is unto Him and combined with prayer, worship, scripture reading and other Jesus centered activities (aka sowing to the Spirit).
3 days and 3 hours is great and congrats to you on that! I am happy for you that you made it the extra day beyond when you first considered transitioning to juice. Did i read somewhere that you intend to alternate water-only and juice for 30 days? If so, that's a really nice fast.
I wanted to stop the nausea before it got so bad that I wouldn't be able to take anything to stop it.
Since you definitely had to be strong for work, this was important and it worked out great.
I know, I know, you would have stuck with it and made it to work anyway lol.
haha, if i was in your situation i probably would have done exactly as you.
I see by your post you also got nausea and just like you, you stuck it out and made it through.
Yes i was fortunate this time. So far the mild nausea seems to have lifted and i'll see how i feel when i wake up. Nausea is icky ;).
If I would not have had to go to work I may have been able to make it.
This i believe :).
So, I am drinking juices for a few days to help me get through my work week. I have to work three more days before I have two off. I hope to get back to water only on Thursday and Friday. The juice got me going again and I felt great today.
This is a great plan and i recommend it frequently to people who can't afford to be weak and lethargic at work. Happy that you were able to stop the nausea before it got worse with the juice and that you are feeling great. It's good that you did this with juice and not steak ;).
I was happy to join you and you helped me too by providing the added and needed inspiration to get me started. Thank you for the awesome prayer!
The gospel means the good news. How much of an understatement is that? How about the awesome or amazing or sensational news? ;)
Ok, I will call you Ed online since you gave me permission, but don't you even think about calling me by my real name. :) I'm not brave enough to post my picture and name like you are. lol. I think it would really affect how I post, not knowing who I know is reading it. ;) I do prefer to remain anonymous. :) That way I can let it all hang out! ;)
All understood, your secret is safe.
I was tempted to get a Pepsi today at work telling myself it was liquid, but I knew that I am trying to break that type of bondage and so it would not please the Lord for this fast unto Him. Thank God with His help the temptation passed. Somehow I knew that would have really been a cheat.
Amen and amen. I'm happy to hear that you fast won't be including pepsi ;).
I loved what you said about the Gospel. That is so true. Calling it good news is probably the greatest understatement the world has ever known.
The spectacular, magnificent or breath taking news ;).
