Hello Curezone,
I'm a 20 year old male from Amsterdam and currently I'm taking the following:
-Iodoral (half a tablet 6,25 mg) daily
-Boron 3mg every other day
-Multi complex every other day (which includes selenomethionine)
-some brazil nuts from time to time
-some extra magnesium from time to time
My water isn't chlorinated nor fluoridated. As a matter of fact, Amsterdam's city water competes for the best in the world. I don't eat very much bromide either. ( not many processed foods and I eat organic barley or spelt sourdoughbread)
I don't really get any side effects, perhaps because I include a fair amount of
Sea Salt in my daily diet aswell.
Having said that.. I've been reading the research done by Guy Abraham and noticed these were only clinical trials(not experimental) with a small n, lots of anecdotal crap about symptoms. (Not that anecdotal evidence is completely useless)
Some of you, I've read, take doses like 100 mg++ or go even further by saying that 50mg or something like that is the MINIMUM to take.
Can you guys provide some links to potential evidence for these statements? I do truly believe that
Iodine and many other nutrients are needed by virtually anyone today since the soils are so depleted.
As far as I know there's no research confirming that inorganic
Iodine isn't toxic/cytotoxic/disruptive/inbalancing in these high doses.
Besides, the mainland Iodine(inorganic)intake average from mainland Japan is about 13,6 mg (correct me if im wrong), however there's also bromide in those seaweeds isn't there?
That would mean the
Iodine actually utilized would be lower than 13,6 mg.
A theory as for why alot of iodine would make you feel better could be that certain receptors that accept halogens can COMPETITIVELY be agonated by for instance iodide/fluoride/bromide. The one with the lowest affinity (iodide) is needed in larger amounts to displace the ones with higher affinities.
But then why the heck is the increased excretion of toxic halides seen after about a month of supplementation?
It could be another pathway that increases the excretion the toxic halides..
The main point I'm trying to make is that there is alot of guessing since no one would bother to do research for an unpatentable nutrient.
Why do you guys take such high doses??
(btw I haven't read all the 250 pages you have on iodine.. lol)
I wish you all a healthy 2012++
peace
