I have done many water only fasts in the last 40 years. Starting with the 24 hr fast to 30 day water fasts.
The reason that sticking with a fast is so hard is the continual bombardment of external stimuli of food advertisments on the TV, and everywhere you look. The smells of food cooking every where you might go, etc. You have been programmed your whole life to react to this by eating. Your conscious mind that you use every waking moment just does what feels best at that moment. In order to reprogramm the CM, you have to do it at the subconscious level. It is like a computer. If you know how, you can reprogram all the habits, behaviors that well meaning people in your life, and yourself may have put there as acceptable throughout your whole life. SH is the tool that will do that for you.
SH is easy to learn, and there are many books, and audio cd's that will teach you. If you watched the video above I posted about Tapping, Robert Smith said there are many ways to do the same thing. this also applies to SH. For instance there are different approaches to the induction method, or the relaxation method. I have read many books, and listened to many SH audio, and while all similar there are certain different subtleties in each that I have taken from that works for me the best .
After you learn SH, you will be able to set up your fast days beforehand to go as you would like it to go, eliminating all the stimuli that makes you want to break the fast.
The other tool to use inconjuction with SH is visualization. The ability while in SH to visualise yourself in your minds eye doing what it is that you want to accomplish. This along with suggestions while in a SH trance is what reprograms your SC mind.

I know I have made it sound like a big effort, but it really isn't. Repetition is the key to learning SH.

I got started fasting after reading the book, "The Miracle of Fasting", by Paul Bragg. He suggested in his book to start out with a 24Hr fast then extend the Time a little longer with each attempt. It's been about 40 years ago, so I don't remember exactly, but that was the gist of it. This does work up to a point, but mind over matter works only so long when it comes to hunger.
The reason for starting was that I had a bout with Ulcerative Colitis at the time, and the doctor wanted to cut out the offending section of the Colon, and attach a bag outside my body to defecate in. I told him no way. I was fairly young at the time, and just thought whatever will be, will be. The doctors explaination was that my body was allergic to itself, without further explanation. Doing research I learned that what you consumed determined your allergies in the digestive tract that could cause problems. I reasoned the ultimate test would be to eat nothing, and slowly introduce food to see what was causing the problem. I eventually was able to do a ten day fast, and the colitis was gone, eventually to come back years later because of a lousy diet. This was during the 60's, and for some reason I was getting the munchies all the time. LOL
Back to fasting, but it was harder this time. More research, enter SH. Easy to learn, and it worked. Been doing it every since.
I usually Do a 21 to 30 day fast every year. You have to understand that it isn't a marathon, and you should break the fast when your body tells you to. I broke the 21 day fast because of a pain in the Gall bladder, liver area. You really should read up on how to break an extended fast also.

Now that you do know what it means, I urge you to learn it, you will be surprised at how easy fasting can be.
