Holy cow -- YES! Before and during Mirena, I never was conscious of ovulating. I actually was a real dummy about my body and couldn't have told you when ovulation should occur, or really what goes on with your body when it happens. Before Mirena I also had extremely sporadic, light periods (maybe 4 a year, sometimes less) which I LOVED, and may not have been ovulating at all.
Now, post Mirena and post a disastrous trial with Progesterone Cream, which I reacted to as badly or WORSE than Mirena, my periods come like clockwork and ovulation is very apparent. Tons of sticky cervical fluid and ALL the symptoms that you mention here.
I don't know why this happens, but I hope it's gone in 18months as well. I'm pretty sure this is a reaction to the cream rather than Mirena withdrawal, but that doesn't mean it's any less painful or getting out of my system any quicker. I took the cream to regulate my periods after Mirena and to get over some nasty crash symptoms without realizing that I'd be putting my body through the wringer AGAIN. This is when I noticed problems during ovulation.
on the bright side of everything, I am almost 10 months post Mirena, and my original Mirena symptoms have eased. So hang in there ladies! I have to remind myself that as bad as I feel now, I felt truly awful on Mirena, and those horrible symptoms (severe dry eye, joint pain, and constant diarhea and weight loss) are mostly behind me.
We WILL feel better someday : )
