We're both going through the same thing with hypo. We NEED longer fasts or a complete fast.

If you're in great shape and healthy, shorter fasts are great for maintenance.

But when you're dealing with disease, as we are, longer fasts are necessary.

Chrisb1 wouldn't be here right now if he limited himself to short fasts.

Shelton fasted all of his patients to extended intervals.

It's my opinion that a 5 day fast doesn't do much. It is far better than nothing and if it is a starting point, that's fine as well. But I certainly wouldn't want to give anybody the impression that a 5 day fast is going to help with much. That would be misleading. I've done weeks and weeks of fasting in the last several months, and I STILL have a long ways to go. So I'm speaking from my own experience. If this isn't support, I don't know what is.

Support is not telling somebody nice things that are false. That's not support. Support is sometimes harsh.

I believe that if you're only doing 5 day fasts, it will take you ages to recover from your condition. If that's OK with you, then that's your prerogative. I'm just not that patient, and I'm looking forward to you posting that your hypo is gone.

I feel your pain. Fasting takes a tremendous amount of will power, but I'm pretty sure you can do more than 5 days.

Have you ever had a trainer? Sometimes they yell at you and sometimes they praise you. It takes both. Have you ever raised children? Same thing.

Doesn't it motivate you to hear of all the people here who done extended fasts? Doesn't it make you say, hey if they can do that I can at least do a week or two?

I guess my objection with your approach is that it seems to be more pessimistic than optimistic. If you're going to do a fast, instead of saying "I can only handle 5 days" rather say "I'm going to try to go as long as possible, but 5 days will be my minimum."

As for preaching:

Please don't denigrate church, it's a mistake you'll regret for eternity.

some people bling can be very insensitive to members who need support.
Last time I looked this was a "Water-fast support forum" and not a "Water-fast critique forum".
I think you are doing amazing well for the level of experience that you have with this subject, AND its practical application.
I'm not so sure that I would have had the bottle to do a prolonged fast for 25 days if it wasn't for my life-threatening condition either.

My advice is to just ignore the bullies: short fasts are very beneficial as long as the post-fast diet is a good one.
Keep up the good work, and feel free to email me privately if you need any help or advice.

You and Chris can be emotionally abusive when people don't agree with you.

I don't believe that support means "positive only". If we had to be positive only, then how could you two rail on me with such frequency?

Calling people bullies and such isn't very sensitive.

All I did was say 5 days is OK, but I believe that most people are capable of much more than they are aware. I think Bling is one of those people. I think Bling could easily do 2 weeks, she's very well studied on the subject and I'm not sure what's holding her back. I'm also not sure why she's so sensitive when I wasn't even talking to her.

When I discussed people who were weak, I was discussing people who won't even try a fast, even for a day, because it just sounds too horrible. Don't take me out of context and then attack me for it.

Chris, your 30 years doesn't necessarily make you more knowledgeable or your advice more valuable than mine, does it? It sounds like a fallacy to me.

We appreciate your input and your lightening quick cut and paste from Shelton skills, but don't let it go to your head.

one of the first experiences I had after my first lengthy fast is that I had no desire or inclination to eat processed foods; my body and mind told me they were unclean and extremely distasteful accompanied by a natural aversion towards them.

The fast actually re-educated my body, taste buds and instincts for natural foods, which appealed to me as clean, wholesome & desirable.. It is also well known within Natural Hygienic circles, that a clean & toxin free body will have this effect.

Todays Standard American diet, only serves to pervert this natural inclination and therefore the consumption of unwholesome and denatured foodstuffs, resulting in diseases too numerous to mention here.

An Elimination Diet will produce the same effects as a fast over a longer period of time, the results of which have to be experienced to be believed.

Detox yourself by whatever means possible, and you will discover for yourself the absolute truth of this.
