Meat27, I had some throat issues, and I did some research, and found that it could be heartburn. I had chest pains and the swallowing awareness feeling,and a phlemmy thing in my throat. Heartburn doesnt always "burn" per se, according to web md(I think it was that one) Progesterone makes the esophageal sphincter lax, and that is why the food doesn't go down Right away. That is why a lot of women get heartburn when they're preggo. I had it in the first trimester before I even knew I was pregnant, all 3 times! I think this is what your issue may be. It might happen during a progesterone spike, while your body is trying to balance out. I don't know for sure, but it's what made the most sense to me. Check out articles on pregnancy heartburn. i have had my merina out sine june 2005. my left side has been hurting since then. i could not eat for atleast a week after removal so im guess thats done something to my throat. you are not the only one. everyday all day i feel sick because it feels like the food i do eat is trying to come up. i think i should lift the head of my bed because i feel worst when i lay down. i have not seen a doctor yet about my digestion problems cause i just fear it will lead to something worst.

you might feel better if you try one of the veggie diets or water diet for a day. when i could not eat i would just feel great, but it caused me to stay up and busy for days at a time. i cant find a balance or i would be fine.

I have had the phlegm thing going on too and that has made me aware of my swallowing. I have read that the hormone imblance causes sinus issues and I think that is what is causing that for me. A few times when I was noticing it a lot I took some Mucinex to help thin it and it did help to clear it out, but it just keeps coming back for me once I stop taking it. I think it will be like that until I fix the underlying problem, which I truly believe was the Mirena.

I can definately relate, I have 2 small boys too, and have been out of work for 6 weeks and was just taken out another six, I have anxiety and depression, well that is waht they say, I think it is all hormonal, as does my new ob, but I guess the bottom line is that we all start to feel better, I am 8 weeks post and am on klonopin for anxiety and zoloft, I have only been on the zoloft for 5 days once the zoloft kicks in I go off the klonopin and the dr say's I sould be on the zoloft for a year! To make sure I have complete hormonal balance. What a nightmare, if you are having these feeling remember the mirena plays head games, but if you are getting to the point that you are scared and are seemingly driving yourself crazy get a different dr and tell her how you feel, some are very empathetic and to understand, I have not had any numbness or anything like you are having, so I can only imagine the fear it brings to you. I hope you feel better, please hang in there you are not crazy! The mirena has done many different harmful things to all of us and time is the only thing that will cure us, be patient. I know it is easier said than done.

I have had similar problems with swallowing and throat swelling. I had so many issues with the Mirena, that after a year, I had it removed, about 2 months ago. Alot of the problems have abated, (constant spotting, irregular periods, itching, joint pain, no lobido, hair loss, cystic acne), but the throat thing persists. Don't know if it is related or not. Still feels like it. I have also had trouble with swollen eyelids, an allery like symptom. Have you had this problem? It's called angioedema, swelling all around the eyes. It's happening today and it's hideous. My doc is checking for a gluten alergy, and I go to an ENT on the 25th to have them look at my swollen tonsils. I think it messes with your head too. Makes you feel like your dying. That feeling went away within the first month. I'll let you know what happens.

Hello, I too have been suffering ever since I had the Mirena IUD inserted. I had it put in on January 26 2015 and on March 1 2015 I could not swallow solid food out of the blue. I have been to doctor after doctor and had every single test done with all normal outcomes. It is now April and on top of still not being able to swallow and loosing 25lbs I have now been diagnosed with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. I finally had the Mirena removed today.
