Blog: My Master Cleanse

On my way!

A little background on me before I embark on my first MC!

I am on my way to beginning my first Master Cleanse, or the Lemonade Diet, as some call it. I found out about the Master Cleanse in a fitness magazine that I recently read (I won't say the name since I'm not sure that's allowed), and I was intrigued, to say the least. So I researched it online and found droves of people doing this, and it sounded like something that would be wonderful for me.
I am inexperienced in anything like the MC. I have fasted for five days in the past, on a purely water fast, but that was the extent of it, and I only did it once, many years ago. So, I am really excited (and slightly nervous) about starting the Master Cleanse!

Background:

Young adult student
Do not restrict diet (omnivore, and generally partake in things like chocolate and ice cream on a daily basis)
Persistent problem with weight

Purpose (or, my reasons for doing this):

1. My first, and primary, reason, is my health. I am addicted to caffeine. Not to the extent some people are, but I generally have a caffinated drink about everyday, and it's regularly a Vault Zero energy drink. I would like to function without caffeine. In addition, I have been attempting to stop smoking since the beginning of March, with limited success. I only smoked for a couple of months, but I find it difficult to resist a relapse in which I have one or two cigarettes (about 1/2 a week).
These things, as well as perhaps just my overall bad eating habits, have caused me to feel sluggish, light-headed, and get a general sick-to-my-stomach feeling after I eat. Food has ceased to be much of a delight in my life, and I hope this will help get all those toxins out that are causing this problem, as well as help me improve my eating habits in the future.

2. Weight loss.
I have been slightly overweight since puberty, which slight fluctuations up and down over the years. I look forward to losing some weight on this diet, although that is not my primary concern.
I cannot take my measurements at this time since I don't seem to have a measuring tape, but I will try to get one soon so I can take care of that.
Starting weight: 159

3. Sense of Self-Control.
I want to do this also just to show that I Can. I believe it will give me greater self-confidence.

4. Happiness.
I have read, during my "extensive" research reading other people's blogs and such, that many people have almost a spiritual experience after a while of being on the Master Cleanse. I don't have such high hopes, but I do hope to improve my overall mood, which has been dreary lately.

Okay, well, I am currently drinking my Herbal Laxative (pure senna leaf) tea, so I'll get back to that!
