Here we go again!
Round 2 of the master cleanse
Date: 7/4/2007 4:42:10 PM ( 17 y ) ... viewed 2131 times Hey guys! As you can see from my other postings, I have already done one master cleanse back in November of 2006. Here we are in July 2007, and I'm coming back for more!
Honestly, I'm not sure of the most important reason as to why I'm doing another cleanse. I think it's just for the challenge. Not eating for 14 days is friggen hard. Also, I want to jump start better eating habits by the time I'm done with this bad boy. I just moved into a new place, and I feel like this is a new beginning of sorts for me.
I'm actually already on day 3 of the cleanse. Day 1 was hard, but I forced myself to go through it and by the end of day 1, I wanted to give up on the whole thing. BUT-- I figured I'd already gone through one day of lemonade drinking, and if I started eating before the cleanse was over, that would be at least one full day wasted on drinking crappy tasting lemonade. That's pretty much been my motivating factor over the past three days. :) It makes me depressed to think that I would have wasted time drinking this stuff without any benefit to me... and if that's not a motivator, I don't know what is!
I just finished re-reading my blog from back in November, and I'm really glad I did. I'm feeling a lot of the same things that I was at this point in my first cleanse. I'm constantly having to think back and make sure I didn't nonchalantly eat food without realizing it (I literally almost ate a cookie yesterday before I realized what I was doing!). I'm also feeling this food nostalgia... like I actually miss chewing and swallowing things other than lemonade/salt water/laxative tea/water more so than being hungry.
A few changes to this cleanse from the last time that I have decided upon for myself: (1) drink a full 12 glasses of lemonade a day. By the way, this is incredibly hard. But, I think during my last cleanse, where I was drinking 4-6 glasses per day actually put my body into a mini-starvation mode and really slowed down my metobolism. When I came off the cleanse, I actually gained quite a bit of weight, which I obviously do not want to happen again. (2) Exercise while on the cleanse. Last time I did this, I was incredibly busy with school (I'm in my last year of business school as a marketing/international management concentration) and work (at a local software company), and had no time to exercise. Now, it's our summer break and I've joined a Masters swim team, so I'll be swimming every m/w/f mornings at least. I also think that this will help with the whole metabolism-slowing issue from the last cleanse. (3) be more careful with the post-cleanse return to everyday eating habits. Last time I just kind of dove right back into real food, which put me in a lot of pain the first night. This time I'll follow the steps of oj, then salads, then other stuff.
Okay I think this is enough for now! Stay tuned for more updates with round 2 of the master cleanse!
