Food Smells So Good

Okay, this is going to be kind of a weird post, but I need to get this out there. I remember last summer when several people on the MC forum and in blogs were talking about this one individual who would actively smell food during his cleanse. It seems that some others got on board and were doing the same thing. On this particular cleanse, and especially in the last few days, I find myself hovering over food that I am cooking for my children and taking in deep breaths through the nose.
One of the things I really like about doing the master cleanse is how it clears up my sinuses. Additionally, I always get this heightened sense of smell. So I was thinking to myself, why should I be avoiding these smell sensations? True, they can act as a trigger that could cause me to slip up in my journey, but at this point I am committed so why not indulge myself. I made spaghetti for my kids last night and cooked the gravy (sauce) all afternoon. Since I couldn't taste it to make adjustments, I had to rely on my sense of smell. Needles to say, it smelled heavenly. I would take in a couple of deep smells and make slight adjustments to the gravy throughout the afternoon. I would follow those smells with some water and I was fine. I have to assume that the spaghetti was a success because I can't remember the last time my son and daughter ate so much spaghetti. I won't even begin to describe the garlic bread.
One of the biggest triggers of memory that we have are the smell of foods. Food smells can take us back to special moments in our lives. Of course, sometimes food just "smells good" and we like it, with nothing deeper attached to it. I know that when I was making that spaghetti yesterday, it both smelled good but also reminded me of a particularly happy time from my past. For me the smell that triggers the best memories, is that Thanksgiving turkey aroma filling the air with all the side- dishes that go with it. Okay, I'm not going to cook a turkey for my kids while I'm cleansing, but I am considering chocolate chip cookies today.
Peace and happiness
