News flash! Tanglewood site and ketosis.
In which you are referred to a website that might interest fasters and I resolve to do nothing.
Date: 2/26/2006 7:44:18 PM ( 18 y ) ... viewed 3835 times I've been reading the Tanglewood Wellness Center website - testimonials and articles. It really makes me feel more positive about my lack of symptoms so far - really, 7 days is nothing. Please, fasters, if you tend to get hungry during your fast, ESPECIALLY if you end up bingeing on unhealthy and unethical things, or going off a fast you really want to do, consider that in ketosis you really _are not hungry_ and ketosis only happens when you aren't doing a juice fast or Master Cleanse. That I can really attest to - the last juice fast I did was 10 days on no-sugar, just cucumber juice and sometimes ginger or garlic juice and peppermint tea and I was hungry all the time - obviously wasn't ketotic enough in spite of low carbohydrates. I'd planned to go 52 days, but hunger drove me to binge, pretty dangerously and not with impunity, on a frozen vegan bean burrito.
Symtoms - funnily enough, stomach starting cramping the minute or two during which I rebounded. Some more not-particularly-loaded (nor sweet) second-long flashbacks (and I haven't been eating any madeleines, or even tea). Some moments of "acid reflux" or bile or something in my throat just now.
I urge you to read the article on the Tanglewood site from _Just Eat an Apple_ that Loren Lockwood wrote. In fact, I am writing here to explain that it's converted me to the do-nothing-but-lie-with-your-eyes-closed school of fasting. I've been seeking how to make this fast more effective, and apparently my brain is directly energy that could be used in detoxing/healing. I've heard the argument many times before and largely ignored it, but this is very eloquently and persuasively stated. Perhaps I'll only have to fast 6 weeks, if I'm bored all the time. Actually, music, the Internet and reading have made the time fly by, absolutely, no problems, and been mainly quite encouraging and helpful and enjoyable, but I'm willing to give nothingness a try. So if I don't write as much, you'll know it's because I'm doing that, not reneging. Anyway, I imagine I'll always at least post what day I'm on and any detox symptoms or improvements that might help other fasters.
It's heartening to read those testimonials of fasters (water) who have basically gone through 2-3-4 weeks with not much in the way of symptoms, even sometimes not too much weakness. If you are fasting, I encourage you to go through the tedium of reading them - it gives you ideas of things to be prepared for, but also presents pictures of how smooth and asymptomatic fasting can be.
Hmm - I wonder how the Tanglewooders would feel about _urine_ water fasting - they'd probably freak out doomsday.
Off to close my eyes and lie still, I suppose.
Jack - postscript: Ralph Cinque is vile. Don't pay hi for what you can do yourself.
