Nite Shift Health
Working the night shift is being upside down for a big portion of your life...
Date: 6/25/2006 4:44:52 PM ( 18 y ) ... viewed 3131 times I've been upside down for so long it sees normal to me.
When I leave for work, it's not too bad, after all no one is coming
home and ending the day. But coming home from my job, my friends
are rushing around getting ready for work, so I just grab a beer and
tell them to have a good day at work and they tell me to have a nice
sleep...
Working the nite shift can seriously damage your health and never mind what it does to your brain cells.....
The experts tell you that the best sleep is before midnight... Since that is the high energy time on the job for me, it's not an option.....
Working a job all night is not at all like surfing the net all night...
Here are some healthy things I do to keep my energy level even:
I keep a cooler in my car and in it I put several bottles of water and sea salt, a couple of wide mouth quart Mason Jars with water, lemon juice and sea salt.. I have my Grolsch bottle of Kombuch Tea and a Mason Jar of Kefir. Now this makes up most of my liquid needs over a 13 hour period.
I always have a plastic bottle with water and sea salt for when I am driving back and forth to work.
Before I leave for work I drink as much water and sea salt as I can comsume. I also try to do at least 3 things that are healty for me..
The (2) solid things I do is Oil Swishing for my teeth and rebounding on my rebounder. Then I either drink a Moreless pH drink, Kombucha Tea, Kefir, Aloe Vera, Juice a vegetable drink, Cocunut oil, Flax or Henp Oil in cottage cheese, cut up vegetables to make a salad.
I don't do any particular thing on any particular day, just can't do all them every day
I can only manage to get 4-5 hours a sleep during the day. I usually sleep with the windows and doors open (have a screen door) to let the fresh air and sunshine in. I keep fans running all the time. (never hear the outside noise anyway). I don't believe in blacking out windows and sleep in total darkness. When I am sleeping nothing can wake me. For me the fresh air is more important than the dark room.
When I get home from work, I have a beer, I have found it is the best palate cleanser, it seems to cut the film that grows in your mouth when you wear a clean room suit and a mask for 12 hours. My girlfriend's mother told me that a beer a day is good for you and I tend to believe that. Take a shower, because I don't want my cats and dogs to come into contact with any toxins that I worked with..
While I am at at work I wear a cleanroom suit with a mask and steel toed shoes, rather cumberson, but it is a fact of life. My high energy levels is 6:30 to midnight, when I have lunch. Lunch consists of something small and coleslaw with a pickle. I do have my coffee then because I'm not drinking it to stay awake it is a social thing... Coffee doesn't give me a lift at this time.. This is my only real meal of the day most of the time and I keep it light, because I really don't have the energy to digest it properly..
I've been doing this for 7 years and I have found that you need to have a routine or you are never going to make it or you are going to be tired all the time. If I have this small routine, I am not tired on my days off...
Days off will be on another blog....
~~PEACE~~
