Foot Reflexology

Foot Reflexology

Over the years I've picked up a few positive things to do for myself that is healthy and some of these have stayed with me and some have fallen by the wayside, sometimes some of these wayside things just need to be revisited. One of these "sleeper" things is Foot reflexology

Reflexology, also called zone therapy, is based on the notion that each body part is represented on the hands and feet and that pressing on specific areas on the hands or feet can have therapeutic effects in other parts of the body. Most proponents claim: * The body is divided into 10 longitudinal zones—five on each side of the body. * Each organ or part of the body is represented on the hands and feet; * The practitioner can diagnose abnormalities by feeling the hands or feet * Massaging or pressing each area can stimulate the flow of energy, blood, nutrients, and nerve impulses to the corresponding body zone and thereby relieve ailments in that zone."

I have learned to do this by myself, I just use common sense. I find the "G" spot (a different spot that you were looking for in the '80's,) when you hit it your body says THANK YOU.

What I do is to find a time with no distractions ~~not hard when you work nites and everyone else in the house works days~~ so at night when everyone is asleep, not a watchable thing on TV. Iike to watch Lifetime Movie Network ~~~like shows that make women seem intelligent and overcome all obstacles (sp), anyway, some mindless thing!!! Hate infomercials ~~can't afford it, so why be made to think I need it ~~ Right now I am watching a Michelle Pheiffer movie ~~oh, why do I tortue myself~~

Since I usually have a cat in my lap (I have 7) ~~yepper, an old widow with a bunch of mangy cats~~ Right now Pepper is hampering my typing and "foot reflexology"

The first thing I do is get in a semi yoga position and start pressing the bottom of my foot, I start just below the big and second toe ~~that is the *biggie* and when you hit it ALL your toes just curl right up and your body goes into a very relaxed state!!!!~~~ I do this at least 3 or 4 times because it just feels so good

Then I get down to business, I look at the chart, the link below is a really good animated picture.... I use my thumb, finger, knuckle and maybe even a #2 pencil.... most of the time it just feels good, and every once in a while I get a tinge of pain, and if I keep applying pressure, I produce some detoxing reaction, the colon and or intestines most generally get a *bleep* so I just do a little extra pressure in that area and sometimes I get a reaction and sometimes I don't.

You know, if I do it enough in a relaxed state, I can pay atention to my instincts, if I press an area and I get some kind of reaction, either a tinge or maybe a relief, how about a "relaxed" feeling somewhere in my inner body, I've done something right

I don't believe that foot reflexology is the cure-all, but I do believe it is a tool in the quest to being healthy. ~~~ As an orginal baby-boomer. born in 1946, which, by the way. makes me 59 years old.~~~

Let's see!!!! In the 60's I ate a lot of vegetables and brown rice, a smidgen of meat, Hey, at that time McDonalds made a decent hamburger that actually tasted like meat and when I ate the french fries I knew I was eating lard, so I kept it in moderaton ~~at this time I was smoking a lot of the "evil weed" and dabbling a little into the chemical stuff~~ I sort of figured that if it was made in a lab, it coudn't be that good for you. so I pretty much didn't go down that road ~~~I thank god for that~~. In the 70's I still ate a lot of veggies and brown rice, but I added "Jay Kordach, juicing for life, I found that you get get a lot of veggies goodies in a glass, Hey, that's kool, a lot of vitamins, not in pill form that I could do and it could keep me in a healthy state.......

Still didn't give up my drinking and smoking cigs and the other herb...

But the 80's brought me A husband that called me a free spirit. he loved it when I would juice my dinner and make him something he liked, that was OK as long as he didn't ridicule me!!! He was a good husband, we hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, to the top of Angels flight in Zion National park, but he was a meat and potatoes man, give him a good steak and he was a happy camper, but that was when I found "foot reflexogy" did a little on him, but he wasn't comfortable with the reactions he got in the heart area..... a little hindsite here ~~sure wish I was a little more forceful in this area, could have predicted he would have a heart attack in the next couple of years~~ Whenever I would hit the heart area, he would flinch and say "that's enough"

I don't push my beliefs on anyone, I will suggest something, but if I get a "sure Sandee" I back off..............

I may not have said much here, but I do believe that "foot reflexology" has it's place in anyone's life. You keep going all around the bottom and top of your feet, (don't forget our toes) you will find that that sensitive spot is where you should be concentrating on, don't worry you will know it when you press on it, you will jump right out of the chair and you go back and give it an extra little pressure you will find some kind of relief....

I've been relying on it for the past 25 years and it has not lead me astray... What can I say it works for me... Just another tool in your well being.......

~~PEACE~~

Here is a cool animated chart that I find easy to see and use
