I HATE plastic
Plastic leeches

I bought this white plastic (ugh plasatic) bucket to brew 5 gallons at a time, started with 2 gallons, with all the taste testing that didn't leave me with much as long as I was doing the continuous brewing.
Well this plastic thingy has got to go, I'm not into plastic, so I am looking for gallon jugs. I certainly don't want another "sun tea" jug with a cow on it. All I want is a few gallon jugs with a wide mouth.. Went to our local farmers supply and all they seem to have in mason jars are "jelly" size, quart and 1/2 gallon. Well I have several half gallon jugs for my sprouting (could be a possibility)... I asked the manager at the diner where I have dinner the nights I work for some pickle jars and he says all his jars come in plastic, and the Mayannoise jars do also.... Went on the internet and they are cheap, but you pay more for shipping than you pay for the jars themselves. This I saw this cool sun tea jar 204 ounces brass spicket and a stand at some extra cost, and it is only $59.95 and I weighing that...
I want to be able to see my Kombucha tea growing, I want to watch it work, that is part of the fun...
I am rationalizing now, the cost of things have escalated so much this past year that my entire paycheck + goes into the things I need, such as gas, food, shelter and no clothing. Really need some new 501's (I know they are the most expensive ones you can get for an ordinary pair of jeans). But they fit me better and last a lot longer that those bought in Wallmart and KMart (by the way I work in maintenance and I am really rough on jeans), have several fashionable holes in the knees, when I was a secretary they all wore out in the butt....
OK OK back to plastic, cannot find a glass jar anywhere, may drive deep into Pennsylvania tomorrow, all those farms (that are left) must know where I can get some glass jars. Probably having the same problem as I am......
Hard to be a "back-to-basics" person these days. I stop at all veggie roadstands and buy whatever is in season, I luv tomatoes, peppers and squash I get ther. Would grow my own, but by the time I grew a garden there would be a million stands that have better looking much sooner than I could get it done..... Nowadays all they have are pumpkins.... Jeff at work gave me some of his green tomatoes, suppose it is the impending frost that had him pick them green. I remember my mom used to do breaded green tomatoes and they were sooooo good.
I'm leaning towards that $60 tea bucket..... I hope I can use the brass spicket, otherwise I'd have to get the plactic one... Sort of defeats the purpose when you are trying to get away from plastic....
Still looking for jars, that way I can use different teas....
Mayby I can start taking the bicycle to work, gee I don't have a bicycle, but of course I live on top of a mountain, so the first 5 miles are down hill but the other 40 is half uphill, at a slant...
Probably the bicycle would be partly plastic, then of couse I did bring my rollerskates from California..... Not much use when you live in the mountains. Can you see me on rollerskates on Ski Run Road.....
Think I'll take a drive into PA this weekend. My weekend this week is Sun (sleep most the day) Monday and Tuesday...... Find some jars, get some raw milk..
Well maybe you get the idea of I HATE plastic, I've avoided it for years, along with antibiotics, flu vaccine, aspirin every day, etc...
Me and my 7 cats and trying to find a commune, where we can live off the land, and use something that nature provides and NATURE did not make plastic....
