Can you remember a time in your life when you felt so
peaceful, calm, and serene that time felt like it was at
a stand still?
Maybe you were watching a sunset, engaged in your
favorite hobby, holding a new puppy, sailing the harbor,
riding your bike down a hill or swimming with dolphins...
You know the feeling I am referring to!
It's in those moments that time just stands still, and a
renewed sense of freedom and deep inner peace abounds.
Suddenly, you feel bigger than life... an expansiveness
comes over you.
You become embraced by your own Essence. All else
becomes insignificant.
In those moments you experienced a powerful process
where your mind surrendered into your Heart. The two
were no longer separate.
The Mind-Heart Integration is a powerful state of Being.
Let me share a story of a woman who was convinced
that she had a closed Heart and that she would never
be able to feel love again.
Heidi is a 42 year old woman who attended one of our
retreats 2 years ago. Heidi wanted to find her soul mate
and to be able to trust love again.
Her life had been filled with disappointments, failed
relationships, and now a fear that she may never be
able to find and trust love again.
Here are her very words as she began the Opening
Your Heart To Love evening with us:
"I'm afraid... afraid that there is something wrong with
me and that I won't be able to find love in my life. It
seems to always elude me. Even when I get close and
think it will all work out something happens and I'm left
alone again. I think my Heart is closed for good."
As I listened to her words carefully, I began to hear how
Heidi was living in the past and worrying about the future
(both are clearly states belonging to the mind not the
Heart).
Because Heidi had come to over identify with her mind
and its thoughts, she had lost the connection with her
Heart and hence her true identity.
Just like a lost little child, Heidi was experiencing her
own vulnerability - those precious moments when the
mind is struggling to hold on and the Heart is holding
open a loving invitation to surrender.
Just looking into her eyes and her smile, I could feel
love and compassion in Heidi's Heart. The love she was
so desperately searching for was right there in her Heart -
all along.
As the evening progressed, Heidi became more and more
present within herself and was gently able to allow her mind
to completely surrender into the loving embrace of her Heart.
At the point when Heidi's mind was completely enveloped
within the loving embrace and radiance of her Heart she
shared with us:
"Oh my goodness, I feel the love in my Heart. It's been so
long since I have felt this love. It feels so good. It's wonderfully
fre'eing. I feel like I have found a part of myself that has been
lost for a long, long time. I want to feel this way every day."
No words needed to be spoken at this point. We could all
see the radiance and love emanating from Heidi's face. We
could feel the serenity and peace within our own Hearts and
we all became One.
Heidi wrote to me when she returned home from the retreat
and she shared with me these very words:
"People are telling me how beautiful and radiant I am...
they are wondering if I fell in love while I was away on my
Holiday. I tell them Yes - I fell in Love with Me!."
Mini Exercise
Take a moment - right now - to invite your mind to
surrender into the loving embrace of your Heart.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath...
As you exhale, imagine your mind moving into
your Heart... Gently floating and finding its way into
your Heart space...
Just as you would embrace a lost little child, embrace
your mind with love and acceptance... and feel the
expansiveness of your Heart as your mind becomes
one within Your Heart... No longer separate...
Becoming One within the Universal Song...
And so it is...
