March 14, 2005 my assembly update and tips.
well putting this bike together is a challenging thing.
As seems the instructions included are really geared for the
trike with 2 hand brakes, and gives NO pictures of what nuts and bolts to use .. and where exactly to use them lol !!
I think they are more accustomed to shopowners
of bike stores to buy them who have knowledge
already of generally how to assemble a bike.
One of the main problems so far
was the part about attaching the hand brakes,
esp since the picture shows 2 + from a front view,
when in fact the attaching is really done from the back side !
(had to go to the online site
to look at pictures of bike there
to reassert that my bike only had the one handbrake,
since apparently they sent out same instruction for both bikes).
you will LOVE this part!!:
they say put on hand grips... then they say attach the
hand part of brake to bike handle.. umm guess what?
now it wont go OVER the hand grip lol and the hand grip
is on tight lol !!..
well imagination and hand creme go a long ways..
just lift an edge of hand grip ,
(i used flat screwdriver)
squirt some hand creme in there,
and twist with a grip wrench...
if any of you purchase this bike or ANY bike
and find yourselves in this dilemna ,
I hope that saves you,
from going nuts
trying to get that darn hand grip back off !!
the rest seems to fall into place a bit better
til you come to the basket attachment
which will also have the 2 back wheels off shoot with it.
you need two folks here:
one to balance the upside down bike,
and one to slide the back part into its frame part.
again they do not say what nuts and bolts
or screws to use,
so just look for 4 big ones that match.
but guess what?
now they don't screw all the way down!!
you need one of those umm socket wrenches?
I guess that is what they are called..
anyhow... that is done.
so far it is now a good 2/3 assembled...
all that remains is back wheels
and then adjusting seat
and handle bar height to suit me.
The weather is starting to get warmer,
this week we will have a few days of snow
( natures last reminder of this past winter)
then it will be me, and spring and rolling
along...(I feel a song comming on !)
*smile*
*I'm comming out so you better
get this party started !!

first post in February:
well hi: whoever you are reading this *smile*
a very nice person, bought me an adult size handicapped Tricycle!!
I am so excited!
It is 24" high (I am short so this is perfect for me!!)
and is 29 " wide (so i can get it in house doorway)
has fenders on all wheels, foot and hand brakes,
and a nice big fat seat (the seat can be raised for taller persons)
(this will be great , if I get tired,
I can just sit til my legs can pedal again).
. and has a good size deep plastic covered basket
for carrying groceries , etc.
one really nice feature is the low foot-lift need to get on the bike
esp important for folks that can't lift legs too high,
so it will make getting on and off super easy.
There is a grocery store about 4 good size blocks away,
which i could never walk to at this point,
and certainly no rest benches along the way,
not to count i would be too weak to carry any groceries
(I still can only lift about a gallon wt)
this will be a super solution for me!
I will be able to get out and get fresh air/ sunlight,
while rebuiding body strength
plus regain my self confidence by being more independent again.
Well so far the front hand brake has been attached and front wheel
so many nuts and bolts lol !
it is still too cold on many days to get out ,
I will be working on keeipng up my body exercises,
then I will practice riding it, like a block at a time and back,
til I feel I can get as far as the store.
until then, I will be chowing down
on my homegrown super green garden of bean sprouts!!
oh hey btw if you know someone that might benefit by this,
goto the link below ,
it will take you directly to the page of the one I have.
it is the 24" summit bike w/fender, coaster and handbrake.
scroll up to see it. (I got a blue one)
it is at very top of page there is a picture of a red one,
and also a blue one with a man on the blue one,
the prices are different,
NOTE: because one is 3 gears, other is not.
(and on had 2 handbrakes)..
mine has one handbrake and coaster brakes and is NOT 3 gears.
you can also get a heavy bike cover, and lock chain
the lock chain is the best I have ever seen !
since I have no car, this is a most welcome gift in my life.
my sincere thanks to the person that so blessed me.

Watch out world! the gal is on the loose again lol !!
(or will be soon)
comming to a street near you...
pedaling on her bike of blue
grinning out from ear to ear...
to bring home fruit she loves so dear.
