Is it just the years of living that takes a toll on our bones that creates this problem? Or is our lifestyle that plays a big part in the creation of our back pain. The job we had for so many years can be a huge contributor. If you were a brick mason, chances are your back will hurt later in your life. Even sitting behind a desk with bad posture will result in back pain. Driving a truck is a major cause also. Then there are genetic reasons and of course disease. All will be a factor in back pain. Living a healthy lifestyle contributes greatly to reducing future back pain. Regular Doctor visits and maintaining a healthy diet will keep your back in top shape. Learning to lift heavy objects properly and practicing good posture will reduce the strain on your back, thus reducing the chance of back pain.
Causes
There are many reasons why we get back pain. The first reason is we as humans were not really designed to walk on two feet. The spine was designed to bear the weight of our organs horizontally. Walking upright demands the spine to become a weight bearing column putting it under huge stresses and creating the scenario for a life of back pain. Now let's put even more stress on something that wasn't designed to withstand it. Things like our jobs will be the major factor in our lives for back related stress. The unhealthy lifestyle will contribute to the deterioration of the muscles and nerves that attach to the back. All these factors play a role in why we get back pain.
Lifestyles
How we get back pain is another issue. This corresponds to what we will have done in our lives. If our lifestyle was relatively healthy, easy, and calm, to our body, then we are more likely to not suffer severe back pain in our future. However if your lifestyle is unhealthy, stressful, and abusive to the body, then more than likely you're looking at some back pain in your future. Genetic dispositions can also determine how we get back pain. Curvature of the spine, osteoporosis, and many diseases play a role in back pain. Remember to always treat your back in a healthy manner, and give it time to heal-n-sooth itself.
Diet and Posture
How to prevent back pain is an important factor in a healthy lifestyle. Even if your job is stressful to the back. There are proper ways to respond to those circumstances that will allow you to maintain a healthy back. Eat a healthy sustainable diet with ample calcium and protein. Practice proper posture at all times. This is important especially if you are sitting the majority of the day. Remember to lift heavy objects the proper way, reducing stress to the lower back. Avoid any kind of risky behaviors. By this I mean try to stay away from accidents. Be careful walking on the ice. Be careful climbing ladders. Stop wrestling alligators, you're getting too old for that kind of thing.
Regular Doctor Visits
Most importantly is to see your doctor on a regular basis. Do not take feeling good as an indicator of your overall health. Remember to get that regular check up no matter how healthy you are living or good you are feeling, the doctor will know what tests are needed and what indicators to look for.
Conclusion
Reducing our overall risk for back pain is possible with some simple actions and a healthy lifestyle. We do not have to compromise our quality of life in our future as long as we make the proper decision now. Follow up with your Doctor, eat healthy. Avoid dangerous situations and any behaviors that could compromise your healthy back. It is up to you.
