Why Dental Implants are a Better Choice Than Dentures
These are some of the reasons why dental implants are a better approach.

Now there’s another decision to make: will you choose denture plates or go with dental implants? Assuming that your jaw bones are sturdy, here are some of the reasons why implants are a better approach.
Little Will Change in Terms of Dental Hygiene
Dental implants are fixed in position. Essentially, they occupy the space where your real teeth once resided. The body of the implant is embedded directly into the jaw bone. A small section is left above the gum line and provides a place to secure a cap. Each cap is contoured to look just like the tooth it replaced.
What does this mean for your daily dental hygiene? Very little will change. You will still get up in the morning and use a toothbrush and toothpaste to remove residue from your teeth and gums. Mouthwash is still something you can use to keep your breath fresh.
The main difference is that you will likely be discouraged from using dental floss. That’s because the protective membrane found at the base of real teeth is no longer present. One wrong move with the floss and you could cause your gums to bleed and possibly pave the way for an infection. If you never liked to floss before, you can now leave that out of the routine without feeling guilty.
Forget About Slippage
You have probably known someone who wore dentures. They could tell you about the problems that arise from having to use adhesives to hold the plates in place. Even with a high-quality product, there is always the possibility of a plate slipping out of position. That includes slippage that takes place while having dinner out with friends or when the denture wearer is in a public place.
With dental implants in position, you can forget about slippage. You don’t need adhesives and it would take a lot of force to dislodge an implant. Once they are in position, relax and don’t worry about your teeth falling out during the soup course.
Implants Can Last the Rest of Your Life
Without teeth, your jaw is likely to shift and shrink somewhat over the years. That means you will need to invest in a new set of dentures every seven to ten years. That’s not the case with implants.
Implants are inserted into the same spaces that once held your real teeth. That prevents much of the bone shifting and shrinkage. Your jaw line remains the same and those implants offer excellent service that can last for the rest of your life.
