Questions of strictness / detox pendulum

Let us be gentle and learn to run a marathon. And if we cannot run the whole way, let us finish together. In Peace

I have experienced all types of fasting now for 23 years and continue to learn. As a self proclaimed "thinker" that entitles me to nothing other than the expectation to be just that. Anyone who is open minded and willing to knock on hard stone doors until their knuckles become raw just to make sure no one is home I would consider the same.

We can be stubborn in our pursuit but love being flexible in our thoughts. Just when I think one thing, I am happy to modify it and add another. There is only one thing I am absolutely certain of, yet that has nothing to do with a reality than can be molded and is subject to change itself. Still, we press into the folds of its makings as best we can and grasp at our interests.

In the beginning we usually create success by following a plan. This would be true in anything regarding learning to sell, fast, or increase our deadlift. I enjoy learning from people who are often not the most marketed or funded by the institutions that have not earned my trust. Most often they are founders in their fields of study and have become experts themselves in these areas.

When we first fast we tend to be strict. We listen to the Gerson family or Dr Bernard Jenkins as if it was the bible of fasting itself. Where else do we turn after all? Who else do we know in our lives that can teach us this fine art.

As we experiment and study we find cracks in their theories and opposing views amongst the experts. We have learned what they have taught and now we begin to grow like our own tree just trying to find the sun as best we can. We hold all who have helped us dearly and still seek new information to broaden our quest. To stop learning is to accept we have already done the best we can, and we know that is never possible. So we press on.

The point of this blog is a basic summary of what detoxification means. It is a scale. Every moment of every day our cells thus our organs, etc are both ingesting toxins and pushing them out. Even when we fast we have to filter the very air we breathe. It is a scale.

Perhaps dry fasting is the fastest form of detoxification known to mankind. I am not certain but it is possible. Water fasting may be a second. Here is the important thing - Detoxification occurring at a rate faster than toxification for all intents and purposes could be classified as "detoxing" or healing the body.

There is not one way. There are millions of ways. There are scales and degrees across every board here with which we could dive into the waters of our own well being and health.

There are a few issues that I see affect people who want to fast. They may have a coffee habit and become down and quit an entire fast because they had one cup of black coffee. This is like the 300 pound person who burns 3,000 calories a day feeling depressed they did not walk for 20 minutes and burn another 200 calories. The math is not there.

Our ancestors fasted with water but their water was filled with minerals. Even sodium in plentiful amounts rests in lakes though we do not taste it. Now mainstream attempts to fast with empty clean water and demineralize their bodies throughout a fast. Not only can this be dangerous but I do not understand the benefit in any way.

If anything I recommend someone who is learning to fast for the first time on a longer fast ingest a TBPS of coconut oil with minerals every few days. I know a purest will say "that is not a water fast" - but lets do that math. 110 cal of fat is literally slowing down the total detoxification occurring by 2% or so for only a few hours. These are things I just don't care about.

Coffee and nicotine addictions (amongst others) are broken most easily during a fast in my opinion. The body will not request these things after a period of time and they will smell so terrible it will be hard to even get them down.

My post today is about being gentle on ourselves. Fasting is a gentle inward time. If all we did was commit to 30 days of fasting I can tell you how you can guarantee a huge win.

If you do not make 30 days and eat say on day 6, who cares. Commit beforehand to the 30 days and on day 7 pick it back up. We do not always run a marathon the whole way our first time, but we can finish. Set a time frame and finish, even if you do not meet all of your expectations.

It is easy to be hard on ourselves as we have done it our whole lives. People have been hard on us and most likely we have been hard on others.

Let us be gentle and learn to run a marathon. And if we cannot run the whole way, let us finish together. In Peace
