I am done
Day 12 Master Cleanse. This is it
Date: 3/21/2010 11:36:38 AM ( 14 y ) ... viewed 1939 times Took a wonderful hike yesterday at a nature conservancy under blue cloudless skies with J. Soft playful breezes wafting scents of spring, everywhere I looked I saw green, green, green, with spots of wildflowers (poppy, what looked like lupine). Breathtaking!
The conservancy had a Red Tail hawk and an owl that they had taken under their (wait for it)...wing. The female hawk was gorgeous, proud and sad at the same time. She had fallen out of her nest as a young bird and someone with good intentions had brought her there. They had no choice but to keep her even as an adult as her survival skills would have been nil. Still, it made me sad to see her in a cage with a harness on one foot. She really looked like she wanted to fly. The owl, on the other hand, was content in her cage. The Ranger had rescued her from a nearby canyon where she had lost one of her wings somehow. They nursed her back to health and she perches on a branch in her cage with that all-knowing look that all owls unwittingly have. I am in love with raptor birds so it was a HUGE treat for me to see them up close. Very special day.
We came home exhausted (only a three mile hike, but still) and had our Master Cleanse lemonades and took naps. I have to say that although I was going to go for 14 days, I am done after today, the 12th day. I'm hungry. I dreamed of food all night long, of eating it and then feeling badly that I had broken my cleanse. I want nothing more than to gently break this cleanse and ease into what I hope is my newfound way of eating. J is doing no better than I, worse actually. Grumpy and hungry. We awakened this morning and drank our salt water flushes and immediately felt cold. See, I figured it out. It's the SWF that makes one cold. I haven't been taking them every day and have felt warm and toasty on the days that I don't and shivering on the days that I gag them down. Anyway, my body is ready to end this as am I.
I'm going to the store a little later to buy some carrots, onions, sweet potatoes and parsnips (if they have any) along with garlic, kale and broth. I'm going to roast off the veggies (can't decide if I will roast off the kale, or not) and then puree them into a soup. Will add some lentils that I have and voila. Perfect soup with which to break this fast. I'll segue into my new way of eating somewhere around Wednesday night or Thursday morning. And in the meantime hope that J cheers up.
