Well, they’ve done it again!
There’s an old saying that “science” goes through stages. First, the “scientist” refutes the research and evidence. Then they accept it. Then they claim it as their own. That was the process (again) reported this last week as CBS 60 minutes reported (watch video)on the miracle of Resveratrol. The glowing “unbiased” journalism was reported by Morley Safer who once was quoted as saying he “Trusted citizen journalism as much as he trusted citizen surgery.” Well, Morley, you should have done your journalistic homework. Over 50 years ago, Dr. Jacques Masquelier discovered the power of pine bark after researching information he had stumbled upon in the Explorer Henry Cabot’s journals. What he discovered and subsequent research proved, was that pinebark (and subsequently, grapeseed extract) contained huge amounts of oligomeric-proanthocyanidins or oligomers for short. As time (and research) marched on, it was glaringly apparent that oligomers or proanthenols (sheeze, all the names will drive you nuts) were, among other things, able to prevent and reverse some cancers. Of course, everyone from the American Cancer Society on down called Dr. Masquelier an opportunist and a charlatan. All of this despite the fact that proanthenols are proven 20 times stronger than vitamin C and 50 times stronger than vitamin E. These miraculous extracts have over the years proved to have excellent anti inflammatory qualities while protecting the cardiovascular system and without any of the side affects of non steroidal anti inflammatories like aspirin. The wide ranging benefits of these substances are now not only accepted, several big drug companies, as reported by Mr. Safer are now in the process of making these into a pharmaceutical. Yikes! Morley asked the audience “When will we be able to get these?” The answer was, of course, when the drug companies finish their process.” Some of the benefits include but are not limited to: Antioxidant; Anti-inflammatory; Antimutagenic; Antimicrobial; Vascular health; Retinopathies; Cancers; And more! Fortunately these compounds have been available to consumers for 50 years. You can have these remarkable substances (and at pretty inexpensive prices) right now. So, let me explain how you can find these and how to shop for the best prices and products. All good products will be standardized and this is also true of proanthenols (grapeseed and/or pinebark). The best will say on the label 85% (or better) standardized. These have been proven as highly efficient anti oxidants as well as anti carcinogenics. Usually, it is best to avoid licensed names such as Pycnogenol as you are paying a hefty licensing fee. Stay with standardized generics, most of the time. Although the AdaptAid sells for around $30.00 for a 90 cap bottle of 500mg proanthenols. So you have the true “skinny” on an amazing set of substances and it would be worthwhile considering adding these into your daily regime.

Disclaimer
Nothing in this newsletter should be construed as medical advice and, as always, you should consult with a physician concerning your health. The forum is simple. Send us a question and we will endeavor to answer it in as simple a manner as possible in the upcoming issue. I have always believed that simple is usually the answer. If you are buying into the "let's treat every symptom now" routine, you are probably going to be disappointed. I have seen people leave a "natural care" practitioner's office with hundreds of dollars of supplements only to have nothing happen except a somewhat lighter bank account. As always, buyer beware and remember that natural healing is a process that can take some time. There are many factors that lead up to a chronic condition and, without seeing a client, it is often difficult to make hard and fast rules and solutions. So please understand that we will try to give you the answer with the available information you supply. Please address your queries to hugh@biocytonics.com or visit our continually updated website at www.biocytonics.com. Thank you Dr. Hugh
