Day 1: It begins - 177 lbs.
My fasting past and where I am today
Date: 5/7/2009 9:08:09 AM ( 15 y ) ... viewed 3883 times I started my fast at around 10:00 p.m. last night and it is now around 10:00 a.m. - 12 hours in and I am feeling motivated to continue.
When I stepped on the scale this morning i was 177 pounds. My goal is to lose 30 pounds during this fast and I think it can be done in aroun 14-20 days of fasting based on my past experience.
I have tried fasting in the past many times. I've done several 2-3 day fasts and one 7 day fast. But that was a couple of years ago and since then i have gained a ton of weight.
I'm now at a point where I don't even recognize myself as I pass windows and my reflection stares back at me. I look like a fat, old cow! I want to feel confident as I walk down the street again.
I've come to realize that fasting truly is a battle with yourself. During my 7 day fast, everyday I was tempted to eat but I had to literally tell myself to stop. It would be there tomorrow. Getting rid of the fat was more important. That my goal was within reach. That I wouldn't get sick. That the detox symptoms would end eventually, and so on. Even then I was only able to withstand 7 days. But those 7 days showed me I could achieve a lot.
During my 7 day fast I lost around 14 pounds. I was drinking around 3 litres of water a day and walking around 2-3 hours a day. I'm hoping that I can begin this again and achieve the same results for a longer period of time (approximately 14 days or more if I can endure it).
God give me the mental strength to overcome the hunger, detox symptoms and temptations around me!
