HIV/AIDS opinion: I was WRONG.
My opinion on HIV treatment has changed, because of a change in the health of the one person I know who has HIV.
Date: 2/28/2009 4:25:44 PM ( 15 y ) ... viewed 2477 times I have an admission to make about my opinion on HIV, which was that HIV positive people do not need the drug treatment to stay healthy. The health of the one person I actually know who has HIV has recently deteriorated.
I can see now how silly it looks to base an opinion on one person's experience, but there is little else I can truly believe in where HIV/AIDS is concerned. Sometimes all we can go on is what we see with our own eyes. There are many lies being told, there are many motivations to lie, and there are so many different angles to the issue of HIV/AIDS that is gets a bit overwhelming.
Nonetheless, it is too serious to not try to form an opinion... people are dying!
The person I do know who had two positive tests, and then some negative ones, and who also had some typical symptoms initially, has also become ill with the typical AIDS symptoms at the 10 year mark. This is right on cue with the standard timeline [of 5 to 10 years after testing positive]. To me, that is something I can go on to make my mind up on what HIV is, and what to do about it.
The three main views of HIV/AIDS are:
- it is an infection that requires special HIV medicines for life ;
- it is an infection that people can live with and be healthy without drugs ;
- it is not real, there is no such thing as HIV, or AIDS.
Of course, there are various branches of all these theories, including that HIV does not cause AIDS. They still cannot even prove THAT!! Also, there is the conspiracy idea that HIV was created on purpose, and spread around the world. Various motivations for doing that are being bandied about.
Now that my friend is ill, right on cue, I have to reconsider my previous opinion that HIV infected people can live well without the drugs. It is still a tossup whether or not to take the drugs, because they are all toxic and they can cause misery in the victims life, but if you want to life a long life, the drugs might be the best chance. Also, if victims wait until the 10 year symptoms are showing, it is too late to avoid AIDS.
I might have to add a codicile to that because my friend did not do a lot to stay healthy. Exersize, optimal diet, and some immune stimulating herbs and other alternative therapies are essential for anyone carrying the HIV virus if they want to avoid both the HIV cocktail and the onset of AIDS. It was because he believed there is no such thing as HIV that he excused himself from needing to be vigilent. Denial can kill.
I won't go on trying to show my ignorance on the issue, or blaming the victims... I just wanted to say that for people who have HIV, it does seem that there are going to be consequences. I was wrong to say that people can be healthy with HIV; I apologise and I truly hope I have not caused anyone to suffer.
