Feeling so very positive

What consumes most of your time each day? What exactly consumes you at work? How meaningful is it? How satisfying is it? How much of any given day do you spend doing only what you do best?
Today i was suprised to feel pleased about this challenge. I dont feel like i waist a lot of time. I already am very conscious of the need to speed my time doing a number of different things. I have always chosen a job that fits in with my family so i could be there for my kids. I am fortunate my wage is just topping on the cake we dont need it to live on. So i have the attitude if the job works for our family i will take it or stay with it if not move on. However i know i have to cahnge this and start doing a job that is meaningful and has a purpose. The juice fast i did two years ago really helped me fix my bad habits and allowed me to sleep less and do more. However one thing this challenge has made me realise is use the time that you have differently and use different energy. I do a lot of driving. I am constantly in and out of the car taking people somewhere or picking up. This is a big part of my life and I can’t do much about it. However last week I spent the whole time racing from one activity to another and this used a lot of my energy. I don’t feel like that anymore. I have slowed down driving for me now is peaceful and calm and doesn’t take as much energy. Now I want to spend that time and energy still driving but using the time to communicate or relax or think. I really feel like I am consciously making much more effort to give each task the energy it deserves. Last night I decided to take my daughter for dinner after her soccer game – it was magic. I put a lot of energy into this – not effort- energy. This was time well spent. I want to do more of that look at the time i have and give the deserving energy to the task at hand.
The book also talks about the 80/20 principle. Basically 20% of what you do brings about most results in your life and 80% is pretty much waisted time.
Do you agree with the 80/20 principle? Does it seem to fit your life and how you spend your time? What activities in your life would you consider wasted time? What keeps you from using that time in more meaningful ways?
I dont feel like this principle applies to my life. I think i spend a little more than 20. What i want is to be much closer to turning it around the other way. i definately want to spend more time making sure i am doing this. Im not sure i would consider much of what i do a waist of time but definately a waist of energy if im not making the most of that time while im doing something.
Task 1. Keep a time journal this week, and jot down how you spend each day along with your contentment (how you experienced each day). How would you rate the cost-effectiveness of how you invested your time?
Started this.
Task 2. What was the biggest time waister in or past week? What was the payoff for you? Did it distract you, entertain you, allow you to avoid someone? Is there a way to use your time differently and have a greater, more significant impact? Maybe you need to watch less tv and to read more, or perhaps surfing the internt, you could go for a walk or get some other form of exercise. Come up with a short list of alternative activities you can pursue the next time you’re tempted to waste time by default.
Again I don’t really feel like I waist much time. I know I gave too much energy to some tasks. But i feel like i am changing this. One thing i definately want to spend time on is listening. I always want to talk but i really want to listen so others can talk.
Task 3. How would you describe your current season of life? Does it feel like you’re buried beneath frozen tundra, emotionally hibernating? Or is it more like spring, with sighsn of new life in view? What does it mean for you to accept and honor your current season?
Definately spring time and im loving it. Blossoming!
