Polluters will have to answer to God, not just government, according to Richard Cizik. Vice president of governmental affairs for the National Association of Evangelicals, Cizik is a pro-Bush Bible-brandishing reverend zealously opposed to abortion, gay marriage, and embryonic stem-cell research. He is also on a mission to convert tens of millions of Americans to the cause of conservation, using a right-to-life framework. Cizik has been crisscrossing the U.S. ... read more

I'm going back to my original style of blogging, focusing more on the positive and on creative writing.
A friend of mine wrote me recently, and said that a lot of the environmental information I send out is ”depressing.” He’s right. I toyed with the idea of ending Mother Earth Heals entirely, but then decided that instead of quitting it altogether, I’m going to be blogging less frequently. What I do post will be more positive, and in keeping more with the original theme of this blog, that is:
--My personal spiritual experiences in how reconnection with the planet is helping me to heal in mind-body, heart and soul, through practices such as barefoot walking and sungazing: ”Barefoot Sto ... read more

Don't let your Fall leaves go into a landfill! Use them for mulch! Your trees and plants will thank you for it!
What’s mulch? "Ask Umbra" says: "Mulching is piling any type of organic material in the garden in order to suppress weeds, improve the soil, and/or make an aesthetic statement. You can mulch with wood chips, compost, bark, newspaper, straw, recently weeded plants, all sorts of handy matter (including leaves!)"

Symbolism of an Amazing TV Commercial
There are no computer graphics or digital tricks in the film. Everything you
see really happened in real time exactly as you see it. The film took
606 takes. On the first 605 takes, something, usually very minor, didn’t
work. They would then have to set the whole thing up again. The crew
spent weeks shooting night and day. The film cost six million dollars
and took three months to complete including a full engineering of the
sequence.
In addition, it’s two minutes long so every time Honda airs the film on
British television, they’re shel ... read more
Coal--the "New" Fuel 19 y
As oil reserves decline world-wide, coal may replace oil as the major resource for fuel. Coal-fired power plants are the largest source of man-made CO2. New technologies may make coal-burning less polluting, but are being met with resistance by the coal industry... and then there is the consequence to the Earth from surface-stripping coal from the ground in massive mines.
According to the article below, we’re not at the end of the road after we run out of oil, but the alternative isn’t very pretty:
”Coal is the enemy,” says Roel Hammerschlag, a widely respected energy analyst who runs the Institute for Lifecycle Environmental Assessment in Seattle. ”It’s worse than oil. We’re going to run out of oil in the next century, but it’s easy to synthesize methanol and other liquid fuels from coal. So coal will replace oil. And there’s at least 300 years’ worth of coal still in the ground. That’s enough to raise atmospheric CO2 to insanely high concentrations -- ... read more
