Shampoo: Baldness Caused by SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE 18 y
STOP USING SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE!!!
"This ingredient is found EVERY body and face soap...and EVERY shampoo. IT IS ALSO WHY YOUNG MEN ARE GOING BALD!!!"
SLS and Premature Hair Loss
SLS is implicated in premature hair loss in men and women, and may be one reason for widespread incidence of thinning hair. Because SLS is such a caustic cleanser, it actually corrodes the hair follicle and impairs its ability to grow hair. SLES (sodium lauryl ether sulfate) causes dramatic decline in the hair growth cycle, and prolongs the hair loss phase (normally 3 months) by a factor of eight. Simply removing this ingredient, and its corrosive and irritating effects, begins to restore the natural, healthy function of the hair follicle.

I started researching ways to grow back my thinning hair about a year ago. I found Apple Cider Vinegar and started using it to rinse with and I have been taking it with cinnamon for about a year. I liked the way ACV makes my hair feel healthy and full of life but I was not growing any new hair. I created this blog eight months ago and someone posted something about neem oil and it reminded me an email I received about how neem oil helped helped grow hair when nothing else would...
I only recently purchsed some to try ... read more

Lighten Hair w/ Rosemary Oil 19 y
Essensial Oil of Rosemary
I have been using essential oil of rosemary to brighten my dark brown hair for a few years as an alternative to chemical coloring. One of my perimenopausal symptoms was falling hair. I also feared the toxins of the dyes. My hair is in great shape now. All you need is approximately 8-10 drops diluted in a few tablespoons of water.
After shampooing, apply with conditioner (rosemary first), comb through, leave it on for a minute and rinse well.

No Shampoo: ACV & Baking Soda plus a Blog 19 y
Why You Should Go No ‘Poo
Almost three months ago, I was introduced to the idea of no longer using shampoo. I was intrigued. After looking into it somewhat, I figured I didn’t have anything to lose. So I picked up some baking soda and apple cider vinegar and then took the plunge. I love the results! There was an adjustment period where I had to play around with the measurements a bit but I finally got the hang of it. I have straight-as-a-board, baby-fine hair that has never held a “do.” After “no ‘poo,” I don’t even have to use styling products. I just blow dry and go; my hair now keeps any style. It’s awesome!

Hair Luv Routine
I switched up my hair care routine to all natural non-mass marketed homemade products! ”Sonrisa” reminded me about the apple cider vinegar rinse and so I tried it again and I loved it. Then she mentioned using baking soda and water as a natural hair and scalp cleanser. I tried that again and my scalp was cleaner than ever without feeling stripped dry. I did some research on the chemicals in hair products and found that the main sudsing chemicals in most shampoos cause irritation, itchiness, and dryness. They are n ... read more

Further to my last article on “Hair Loss”, the discussion on hair care is incomplete without the mention of Dandruff. Let us get some facts straight about dandruff. Dandruff is the inflammation of the superficial layers of the skin whether it be on the scalp or any other part of the body.
AROMATHERAPY– NATURAL HEALING - DANDRUFF
While the causes of dandruff are various, it can certainly be transferred genetically and can get aggravated with emotional and physical stress and with climatic change, becoming worse in winter. Dandruff can either be greasy or dry. The manufacturers of dandruff shampoos, unfortunately, are not in the business of treating dandruff permanently, otherwise who would buy their products. If you have resolved to solve this problem from the root, you must first begin with dietary changes avoiding fried foods, white sugar and dairy products. Eat more of g ... read more

Cayce:Irish Potatoes For Hairloss 19 y
The peelings of potatoes don't of themselves make hair grow if everything else is done to prevent it! But it tends to stimulate, to keep the activities in such a manner as to be beneficial. For this body, or any other body - if it desires to use it - though it's rather late for this body to undertake to grow back hair, when it might have followed this procedure some twenty years ago and prevented the loss of the hair; but for most bodies, about an ounce of the potato peeling juice taken every few days is beneficial.

Hair Loss Shampoo: Saw Palmetto 19 y
I am going more slowly through the process than I thought for making shampoo. I want to make my own chemical free shampoo for my thinning hair that has a dry patch and contains my first significant quanities of grey hairs. Pattern Baldness runs in my family so this dry patch of hair concerns me. I know it is easier to prevent baldness than it is to regrow hair once it is lost so this blog and making my own natural shampoo is my effort to be proactive and save my hair. I have tried some things so far but I want to base my formula on research based information. So far I am considering using Cold Pressed Virgin Olive Oil, Aloe Vera Juice, Rosemary extract, Cinnamon, Honey, Cayenne, Stinging Nettles, Milk Thistle and blending Saw Palmetto Gel Tabs into my hair loss/pattern baldness prevention shampoo. I have just begun using Apple Cider Vinegar as a rinse with good results.
The following is a study about the effects of Saw Palmetto on Pattern Baldness.

Laboratory experiments have shown that the liposterolic extract of saw palmetto (LESP) is a weak inhibitor of 5-[alpha]-reductase (5AR). While the relevance of this weak activity to the oral use of LESP for benign prostatic hyperplasia is debatable, (1) a group of scientists decided to test the effect of oral intake of LESP on male pattern ... read more
