Emulsifiers for essential oils
I am looking for suggestions for emulsifiers that I can use with essential oils to prevent them from clumping to together in water. I want them dispersed in the water as tiny droplets and a suitable emulsifier should accomplish this.
PhosphatidylCholine/lecithin is not suitable based upon my experiences with using it with eo in the past. Polysorbate 80 seems like it might do what I need although it does have some issues with the digestive system re inflammation. I will not be using the emulsifier on a regular basis, only to defeat biofilms however any negative effects re:polysorbate are not welcome with such severely high permeability.
Does anyone know of any other emulsifiers that might be a better option? The emulsified essential oil needs to penetrate a biofilm and the droplets need to be as small as possible. A hand blender will be used to break up the oil and mix with the emulsifier. [EDIT] Thinking about it more, I might be better off using an ultrasonic cleaner to mix them because of the tiny quantities, which would be far too small for any blender.
