Thousands have taken biopsy
by White Shark 10 y
Thousands have taken biopsy.
Not very many of those who have taken biopsy have ever come back to report being cured by the same doctor who took biopsy or by any other doctor using biopsy data to establish diagnosis.
Even worse. Some consider the scar left after biopsy worse than EC.

Re: Biopsy of salivary gland planned in 2 weeks
RN WARNING by lampwick 16 y
I had a biopsy done over 3 years ago and I still have a huge scar that’s way worse than peeling lips ever were. It’s a hard, discolored, partially numb lump of scar tissue and I can still see the cut lines. And the biopsy didnt even reveal the reasons for my lip problems. After that I looked over the peeling lips forums for biopsy results and no one has ever discovered the cause of their peeling lips from a biopsy. A biopsy will only make things worse.

its unforunate but it still might actually be.
the docs said aldera could of manipulated my biopsy results. so im still abit unsure although the docs said i defs dont have it. but i dont know if they really checked for it or not. some doctors are very hard to talk to and dont listen alot.
so it would be good for some people to get some new fresh biopsy’s with their crusts on and get this time get it checked more in depth. im ...

You can find several biopsy stories on this page:
https://www.curezone.org/forums/s2.asp?f=403&c=19&ob=v
So far, in the 10 + years of this forum, nobody, not a single person has ever come back after biopsy and reported:
”I am so happy I took that biopsy! It has helped me cure my lips.”
I may be mistaken, so if I am, and if you actually know of such a story, please share the link with us !!!
In the same time, dozens, if not hundreds have come back and regretted biopsy, many reported about having one more ugly scar on their lips!
Here is one example:

Re: Biopsy of peeling lips result yeast infection.
by dm0923 19 y
Hey everybody. It seems that of the people who’ve had biopsy’s, some have had yeast infections and some haven’t (I would assume that labs would always test for this, but not absolutely positive). I’m not sure what this means, but please keep us updated with how the diflucan works. Also, it was reported that for the biopsy’s that didn’t mention a yeast infection, only a nondescript inflammation was noted (they were described in previous threads on this board.

I think you do need a biopsy or at least something like a biopsy to test for HPV, as it pretty much doesn’t spread into the blood stream but stays in the affected area of the skin (at least that’s what I’ve read and was told; it might be true for some kinds of the virus (there are like 150... ”high-risk”, ”low-risk”...).
And yea, like doc10 said, just because people had a biopsy done, that doesn’t mean that they were tested for HPV. My biopsy was definitely not tested for HPV (the results said something similar to ”the area could look like a virus infection”. So after my biopsy, they wa ...

also it could take upto 8 weeks for the biopsy to be examined fully.
so can somebody please go and get a biopsy done and ask the doctor to get everything checked and cultured not just the usual basic check. if it is localized infection the answer is going to be found in the biopsy. so please go get it re done and make sure its checked for everyt ...

Re: Ec sufferer
by oaktree1983 9 y
It depends on what type of biopsy they do. If they do a punch biopsy, it heals very quickly and doesn’t leave a scar. If they go deeper and actually cut with a scapel, then it might leave a slight scar. I’ve had both and have no scar with the punch biopsy, but the deeper biopsy I did a long time ago still has slight scarring.
It’s going to be hard for a dermatologist to really treat your condition unless they are able to do a biopsy. Good luck!

I know from everyone esles perspective it would be great because they get info without having the biopsy but if you was in that position what would you say. Have people had biopsies done before on the lip with ec? My only worry is the scar, i had a biopsy done on my arm and she took out a reasonably sized chunk and if that was done on my lip, it would look even more messed up. Any advice is appriciated :)

By the way JSL, did they do the biopsy in your triangular part or in another place of EC area?
My light biopsy analysis just showed parakeratosis, but I think it’s important to know if the problem is just superficial or more deep. I guess our biopsies would have had shown if we were affected in depth.
I realize I don’t have Zyclara in my country, the only product with Imiquimod is Aldara, but more highly concentrated than Zyclara.

Yea, using Aldara before getting the biopsy done might have been a factor. That’s why I said I would rather do the biopsy and test for HPV before getting a(nother) biopsy done.
Maybe the Aldara treatment was kind of successful, activating your immune system which in turn was then able to fight the virus itself. Maybe that’s why they didn’t find it. Or, there might have never been a virus involved.

Biopsy is a waste of time & money and most importantly ”hope”. Doctors who advocate biopsy either don’t know how to cure ec or they simply want to make a deep hole in your pocket. When Doctors fail to find the cause for ec and prescribe %¤#&!§-steroid ointments or worse ”a biopsy” instead proves the point that they know absolutely nothing about ec....I have completely lost faith in Modern medical science and would never recommend it to any body. am currently under ayurveda and keeping my fingers crossed...

RN WARNING by lampwick 19 y
I had my lip biopsy a year and a half ago. My lips still peel but not as much. My biggest problem is the scar from the biopsy. Theres a hard lump of scar tissue and the area is all red and purple and wrinkled and slightly numb. I hate my derm cause I only agreed to the biopsy cause she said it would heal in a couple weeks at the most and not leave a scar. When I went back a couple months later to complain about the scar she said either deal with it or go see a therapist. If anyone reads this dont ever get a lip biopsy.

RN WARNING by Sonrise 15 y
I can only share my experience. I had 2 ”punch biopsies” when I first contracted EC almost 4 years ago. The Dermatologist sent them away for analysis and whatever he was looking for i.e. cancer, was not found.....nor was a diagnosis. I was left with 2 white spots where the biopsies were done and my skin peels in the biopsy area just as the rest of my lips do. I will say the area was greatly traumatized at the time of the biopsies but my scabs were so thick and painful then. Now the area looks more like the rest of my lips.

Re: Lips getting worse
R Warning by ahr 15 y
It will but I have found with these rare conditions that the person doing the biopsy does not properly diagnose it.
For example my biopsy said actinic cheilitis(which means caused by the sun).
It was not that and I even took 5-FU cream to to prove it.
So a lot time these biopsies are wrongly diagnosed and depends on skill level of person doing biopsy.
Also note if your lip is nodular (when you run tongue along the bottom you feel a bump(s)) this could indicate OFG.

Re: some thoughts on our condition

FunStuff,
I have re-read your post and there things in it that I have difficulty with. You write ’biopsies do not cover all types of bacteria/fungi’ but biopsy would not be a usual method of diagnosing an infective condition or indentifying a bacteria or fungus. That would be by culture and I agree that culture might not grow everything. Now you can often see fungi in biopsies if you look carefully for them but fungi are common in the mouth but they are not necessarily of any significance. They can also colonise tissue which is already diseased so the presence of fungi might be a second ...

Im happy to hear you healed from the biopsy. I just had a biopsy, culture, and blood test done today, and I was really worried that the biopsy would cure. Why would a biopsy wound heal but this ”trauma” wont heal? I think that may reveal something about EC. But I agree, I think people need to start getting things done instead of sitting around being angry that they arent healing. If you want to heal then start trying to figure out whats causing this. Its great that your going in for testing, be sure to keep us posted if you can and if not just come back when your done and share everything. ...

I know you are early on in this process so you have an excuse, but people on this site constantly go back and forth on how they think it is an infection or not. When they could just go get a biopsy and see an internist to find out. Its like people WANT to just keep guessing about what this is, and expect the solution to slap them in the face. Its ridiculous.
A biopsy does not hurt and will not scar if you get someone decent to do it. And of everyone I have read about getting a biopsy, all of them have healed fairly quickly.

However, my appointment with my doctor has finally come and I can’t even sleep as I am aching to find out what he is going to tell me. I hope it is some type of good news. I’ve had EC for over 18 years now and having it cured would be my Christmas present of the century!

I got EC after I got a biopsy
RRR Warning by anthic 12 y
I did a laser resurfacing, but that was about 2 years ago.
I got EC after I got a biopsy on my lower lip 4 months ago. The result of the biopsy was negative, and unnecessary. I’ve seen 7 doctors since I started with this problem, and they told me it was uncecessary. Before the biopsy I was fine, I just had a freckle on my lower lip. It was something preventive. I still regret of that decision.
Now all my life has changed. I did the biopsy to prevent a possible cancer, and now I’m living a hell.
A sad and cruel paradox of life.

Didn’t really get a biopsy done, since there’s little point if the doctor doesn’t know the diagnosis or treatment.
Of course I’m not really saying that I am 100% sure that I have it, but some of the symptoms almost fit perfectly and when the swell ups flare up they look almost exactly like in some of the pictures.
I’m planning on getting a biopsy done not too far ahead, but only after some stuff works out in life and, well, probably abroad as well.

Well, years ago when they did it, they did a wedge cut biopsy on the outside lower lip which wasn’t the best choice in hindsight in terms of aesthetics. The biopsy healed but it sucked having that a gash on the lip. The scar eventually healed but there was still peeling over the scar. I would recommend they do a punch biopsy on you from the inner part of the lip from inside of the mouth that penetrated deep enough. That would be the best choice I think cosmetically.
