Enough to cover the top of the tray evenly.

Dear Downfall,

My rule of thumb is to gently pour the wheatgrass or barleygrass seeds over the top
of the tray until it is covered. You want
one layer of seeds, side by side. Each of them will grow into a beautiful green blade
of grass. As I type this, a tray of wheatgrass
sits in the sunshine of my living room window.

I'm sure you know that you need to soak the
seeds for 8 hours before you put them on the
tray. Soak them in pure water, not tap water.

I've been growing my own wheatgrass and barleygrass for about 10 years. I used to
juice it, but got tired of cleaning my
Green Life Juicer. So about 3 years ago,
I began cutting the wheatgrass with a scissors -- just enought for one mouthful --
and chewing it for 10 or 15 minutes.

I still get most or all of the juice. But my gums
and teeth also get some significant exercise.
You can do all kinds of weight-training for
your bodily muscles, but how do you exercise
your gums? I do it by chewing wheatgrass! I
give this technique credit for stopping the
gum-recession that was an irritating problem
for me until recent years. I also think it
helps to have all the wonderful nutrients in
wheatgrass right there in my mouth for 15
minutes. I tell my gums to use that healing
liquid to nurture, heal, harmonize, and
balance themselves; to detoxify any old root
canals or cavitations. And my gums seem to listen to me.

You might want to give this chewing technique
a try. At the very least, you
can use it on days when there just isn't time
to use and clean the juicing machine.

Good luck with your grass growing! I'm going
to stop typing now, get my scissors, and enjoy
the day's wheatgrass. My gums can't wait!

Blessings,

Owen
