Are you able to walk a good distance? Peristaltic action is often helped by regular (mundane) walking. Plus, the internal joggling might help loosen up gallstones, which in turn may help unclog the bile ducts.
I may be off base (working from memory), but as we age, our bodies are less able to absorb/digest B vitamins, which are good for the colon. Perhaps you could try some intra-lingual B-complex or find a "kind" MD to give you some B-12 shots?
